The NJ and Winnipeg trades are horrible for the Canucks

Vancouver: Hey Seattle. We’ll give you an older, slower, more expensive, and worst dman. In exchange, you give us a younger, cheaper, and better dman. Sound like a deal?

The talent gap ain't that big between the two. Larsson is at best a 2nd pair dman

If we were moving Garland to Winnipeg, it would have to be someone Pionk coming back the other way, and even then, I'm not sure the Canucks do even that

Still. One is better and one is worse. One is cheaper, the other is more expensive. One is older, the other is younger. It’s a one for one. It’s gotta make sense and it clearly doesn’t

The Jets don't have a lot of cap space.

Also, RD is where they lack depth and LD is where they have a bit of a surplus.

My counter to your DeMelo trade is LD Brenden Dillon (at $3,900,000 AAV instead of $3,000,000 AAV) for Garland and remove Burroughs from the trade. That would get the AAV changing teams a little closer and I don't think Burroughs adds any value from the Jets' perspective to the trade.

Garland is an elite 5v5 producer and a top 6 forward. Demelo at best is a #4 d man. There is no world in which Vancouver does that. We might give your a third for him. Not trading good assets for meh players

Dillon is a top 4 defenceman. I countered the DeMelo trade that you obviously don't like with the Dillon suggestion AND I took Burroughs out of the deal.

Also, I like Garland, but to counter your argument about his value, a similar player in Bjorkstrand (27 years old so a year older, also signed for 4 more seasons at $5.4 million AAV but with better production as he notched 28 goals and 29 assists last season compared to Garland's 19 goals and 33 assists) was just traded for a 3rd round and a 4th round draft pick.

Yeah, the Canucks aren't in a position where they have absolutely no leverage in a trade the way Columbus was with the Bjorkstrand trade

Seems to me that a middle 6 forward for a top 4 defenceman is a fair trade, especially keeping in mind the Canucks save $1,050,000 AAV in cap space, but we should probably just agree to disagree.

It's not like Chevy makes any trades anyways, so we likely won't see another trade between the Canucks and Jets for at least three more seasons since that's the length of the contract extension he just signed to continue on as the Jets' GM.

Garland >>> Dillon, they're not even close to the same caliber of player

Top 4 defencemen are more valuable than 2nd line wingers all things being equal.

Also, Garland is a tiny winger and Dillon is big defenceman that actually plays big.

Sorry, but GMs tend to value big and reliable top 4 defencemen a lot more than they value little 2nd line wingers, plus Dillon is great value at over a million less AAV than Garland.

Again, little winger Bjorkstrand scored 28 goals and added 29 assists last season and he was traded for 3rd and 4th round picks.

It doesn't matter how desperate or not desperate the Canucks are, the market has been established for Garland type players with the Bjorkstrand trade.

The Canucks don't have to like it and they certainly don't have to trade him if they don't like the return, but I think you're likely overvaluing Garland a little verus how NHL GMs would perceive his value (again, see Bjorkstrand for the value established by NHL GMs for that sort of player).

I'm not overvaluing Garland, the positional difference doesn't swing the value to the point where Dillon is as valuable as Garland. If the market has been established, the Canucks keep Garland, cause they ain't selling low on him like Columbus did with Bjorkstrand. It's you who overvalues Dillon. Dillon wasn't even that good last year

Trading Sharangovich for JT would be a mistake in part of the Devils, seriously hope they wouldn’t consider this if offered.
