Description
Signing Stienburg after college season, JJ PTO.. I’m sure everyone’s gonna say I need to add to get Reinhart but I value defenseman more than forwards so sure maybe some extra pick/s going to Florida but this trade is close in my eyes. Plus this is cap relief for Florida who needs it while also getting their top 4 defenseman and PP QB.

you have to think colorado passes on any cap retention since they're cap strapped currently and will be even more next year

Bennett for Girard makes more sense for the Panthers. Giving Reinhart would make their winger depth quite weak with Duclair going to the LTIR

Less sense for the Avs though as Reinhart is the more proven commodity

Idk as Bennett is actually a center. Reinhart was solely a winger save for a few games when Barkov was hurt. And he didn't impress as a center. So as a center, Bennett might actually be more proven

That's fair. Though as a 2C, I don't know if I see Bennett as "proven." He had a great year, no doubt, but can he do it again? Same question obviously holds for Kadri given his past year, but for a team like the Avs that'll be up against the cap for the next 5-6 years, that's a really important decision to make as it could be make or break

Yeah, Bennett has played a total of 81 games as a top6 center. He played with great teammates but that's something he'd get in the Avs, as well. Bennett is a bit of a risk, but I'd consider it as his cap hit could be half of Kadri's. The Panthers would probably have to add a prospect of some kind as a sweetener to a Bennett-Girard deal, though.
