not worth spending a 2nd to do this. Plus you have Sandin on the 3rd pair. If doing all this to accommodate him, shouldn't he be Parayko's partner?

Leddy will be imo
But once Mikkola and Sandin move up the ladder leddy should be traded

Nope. Either we package him for something we need, sign him for a reasonable price, or let him get offersheeted (if he even does, doesn't seem all that likely) and determine next steps from there.

I was think they get a good young cheap 2 way contract player who is very good since they can’t sign sandin rn, blues if they move Scandella can sign him so it’s a win win

Nah, I wouldn't give up Mahura for that package. That'll get Scandella off your books and Jacob Larsson.

It looks like it would be Colton White this year. I hadn't even realized we signed him, you could have him instead of Larsson if you wanted. Larsson is more a stay at home guy where White is a two way player.

Mahura hasn’t really ever looked ready when in the NHL. I have no hesitation to move him. I don’t hate this

Larsson signed with Ottawa after the Ducks declined to give him a QO. Juolevi is the newer, younger Larsson as far as the Ducks are concerned.

As to the original trade I'm not the biggest Mahura fan for context. That said, if the Ducks keep him going into the season there is a fair chance they'd have to try and send him through waivers to San Diego. There's plenty of competition for the 3rd pair spots and bringing in Scandella would only add to that log jam at the bottom. Making it more likely they'd waive Mahura assuming they kept him out of the trade. Camp will be interesting to see who wins spots and who fails to do so.

My bad, I hadn't even realized we released Larsson, hope he can get things back on track in Ottowa. Dobber Prospect needs to update their site. Yeah, there is a log jam at the bottom right now. I guess we will know who is getting the nod after camp.

Mahura or White probably are on the block as far as the man out, Mahura is getting close to sink or swim time. We do need a defensively responsible left D to pair with Drysdale who can eat big minutes and play the PK, just not sure Scandella is the guy for that.

This is just my opinion but Mahura's sink or swim season was last season. And he sank. Benoit past him on the depth chart and then Verbeek brought in Vaakanainen to push him another step down. We also have to remember that Murray is the one to sign him to that 2-yr deal he's on. Verbeek hasn't really had a chance to cut Mahura loose yet, but given that GMPV has cut bait on so many Murray players it doesn't feel very good for Mahura's chances.

My fear is Verbeek is going to run back the Vaaks / Drysdale pairing and let those two learn the position by playing. Which might be an OK long term strategy but they'll lose games this season because of it.

The more you talk the more I am agreeing with you on this. GMPV is clearing house. As to Drysdale Vaak pairing, we already know we are loosing games this season and will be bottom 10, its no worse to let them learn in the pit and be bottom five, only improves our odds at a generational talent in this draft.

Its probably another year until we take a good step forward. I would at this point take the deal on the table in this AGM, if Scandella takes a big step back next season we bury him as our 7th D.
