Jesus is Foegele’s contract that bad? I doubt it would cost a 2nd and 3rd to dump 2.75M

The Puljujarvi trade is dismal compared to other offers from other Carolina AGMs. There's zero reason to trade Puljujarvi if this is the return: just don't sign Yamamoto to a wholly unwarranted six-year deal perhaps?

Foegele trade is pretty bad too given that he's a very serviceable third-line forward. It's either a minimal return to Edmonton or a marginal kicker to ship him to the Ducks. The amount of draft capital you're sacrificing here is ridiculous.

He's a #13 that should be making league min. Carolina dodged a bullet by not keeping him.

2/3 of Yams, Pulju and Foegele need to go.

Since when? According to who? The cap works perfectly fine if you don't offer Yamamoto a ridiculous contract and flip Foegele to the Ducks for/with a 5th.

I'm not against moving either Puljujarvi or Yamamoto as part of a larger package once Bourgault has shown something at the next level, be it the AHL or NHL. Until then, you cannot replace either player with anything close to equivalent via free agency. Moving them now for the sake of moving them is just foolish.

Yams is going to be expensive, probably shouldn't have even qualified him.

If they didn't qualify him, he would have been an unrestricted free agent. They'd have lost him for nothing. Piss-poor asset management.

Canes pass. If they make this trade, they lose Necas, and Necas has a lot more upside that JP. There wasn’t a market for JP, and the Canes have no need for him.

If you retain a bit of foegele he’s worth something. Difference between bad player and overpaid(albeit by maybe only a million or so)

These aren't good trades for Edmonton, giving Puljujarvi away and paying to dump a servicable 3rd liner to overpay Yamamoto and sign Chiasson to a ridiculous contract isn't good asset or cap management.
