I don't see Buffalo accepting this, but I'd love it as a Canucks fan. Even though some view Dahlin as an underwhelming defenceman (being a #1 selection), he is still an elite defencemen on a great contract, and I don't see Buffalo wanting to get rid of their pairing of Dahlin and Power anytime soon. Also doesn't make sense for the Canucks to flip Boeser right after they resigned him. Too little for Dahlin, you'd have to send a bad contract or two back to Vancouver (which they surely wouldn't want) and Dermott and Hoglander are basically sweeteners.

From a team need standpoint it also doesn't work. Buffalo is overloaded at forward both NHL ready and prospects. The backend however is where they are still pretty thin. They have 4 solid young dmen in Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, and Joker with Bryson also being a good enough 3rd pairing guy. Beyond that in their pipeline they realistically only have a couple of potential NHL caliber guys. Taking away Dahlin and replacing him with Dermott creates a massive hole. Add in that you could argue Buffalo really only has 1 bad contract (Skinner) and the trade simply doesn't work, ignoring the value which is also off.

Sabres don't have much at defense after Dahlin, Power, and Samuelsson. They would want a decent amount more, especially after the second half of the season Dahlin had.
