Marc Andre Fleury does not get you Dougie Hamilton and the second round pick doesn't make up for the huge gap in value.

MAF value at the most is a 2nd round pick, No way does MAF+2nd round pick net you a D man of Dougie Hamiltons caliber.

hahah woof....fluery at best gets you a 2nd more realistically he gets bought out bc why would he agree to go to a team then have the team give up picks and become weaker to get him when he could just get bought out get paid by the pens and take a smaller salary with another team...making the other team better and having more cap?

I think this Is a terrific proposal to see the Pens build on what is a dynasty in the NHL. Real value for how MAF has been playing.

Change the pick to a 1st. OR Add Pouliot and leave the rest.

If you haven't been following the NHL. There is an expansion draft. Unless NMC Fleury can be moved, Fleury will be bought out, or the Pens trade Murray. There are so few teams that would be willing to take Fleury (because of the draft and his salary) and so few teams that Fleury will agree to waive his NMC. As a result, the Pens will accept ANY offer and be happy with it. It's not about MAF hockey player value, it's all the other factors that will make or don't make a trade. A 7th rounder might be the best offer for Fleury.....and the Pens would take it.

That still doesn't make it close to even.

I agree that Fleury's value isn't this high, but I think it's higher than you say. He has to be protected from the expansion draft because of his NMC, but in terms of trading he has a modified no trade clause (lists 18 teams that he can be traded to). With that in mind I think there's a fair chance he'll get dealt for a reasonable return.

Well, there's kinda an exception to this. MAF can waive his NMC and PIT now protect Murray just to leave MAF exposed. So they don't technically HAVE to move him. At some point PIT needs to look at themselves and say..."We'll risk him being exposed." Maybe Vegas takes him and eats that salary. Good news for PIT! Maybe they don't. A 7th rounder may not be worth removing a solid backup. WITH THAT SAID. 2 more things. A.) If MAF doesn't waive...Trade Murray 100%. B.) I'm not sure why MAF would do this. He'd make more money being bought out and then signing a new contract.
