TDL Trade KaneToewsDomiAthanasiou

Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2022
Published: Jul. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Might seem weird getting 2 1sts for Toews but only one for Kane but this is just my thoughts. NYR will probably be willing to throw in another first but I haven't seen many fans trying to help Vegas out.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Sýkora, Adam
  2. 2023 1st round pick (NYR)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (NYR)
  4. 2023 6th round pick (NYR)
  5. 2023 6th round pick (WPG)
  6. 2024 2nd round pick (NYR)
  7. 2024 6th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Being conservative on trade gets. MIGHT be able to get an additional 1st depending on Rangers desire (especially if they are top-4 in the East.
NYR
  1. Kane, Patrick ($5,250,000 retained)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (CHI)
  3. 2023 5th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
We retain 50% then probably loop in Arizona/Anaheim (and NYR sends them a 4th) to retain an additional 50%
2.
CHI
  1. Martinez, Alec
  2. 2023 1st round pick (VGK)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (VGK)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
We could either keep Martinez for next season or trade him at 50% retained. Retaining 50% of Toews salary AND taking on a $5,250,000 cap hit for VGK next season (constantly cap strapped) should be enough to get an additional 1st.
VGK
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($5,250,000 retained)

I don't think Toews sucks but you're probably right about Vegas probably not wanting him.

They might trade Martinez to be cap compliant this off-season, depending on what their RFAs take.

Toews doesn't suck LMAO He came back at the beginning of last season after long covid and looked slow and winded to be expected but look good the last half of the season. Further, Toews is a great 3C on most teams, still a killer defender and one of the best at the dot.

I agree Toews still brings a lot value to contending some teams, however I do not think Vegas is one of them. Unless they move one of Eichel/Karlsson/Stephenson. I don't know if Toews is an upgrade for them at 3C.
