Neck surgery. He'll back within the first 2 months.

He underwent disc replacement surgery and will not be ready for the start of the season.

We're totally screwed cap-wise if Ellis can play, and especially when Farabee comes back

Not really. Farabee is only on regular IR above so his cap number is being counted. Ellis would be on LTIR. Once Farabee and Ellis return the Flyers have to demote 2 players to the AHL. They may need to demote 3 to make the cap work but with Brown, MacEwen, Seeler, and Laczynski on the roster above that isn't really a tough task. Laczynski is waiver exempt as well so that makes that easy to do. Losing Seeler, MacEwen, or Brown potentially to waivers is far from a disaster. Could even be welcome.
