Aho is terrible , Salo I agree. Lou can’t help himself. Needs to sign everyone that played for him in the past

Like dont get me wrong

Mayfield will help out Gardiner's defnesive issues but that said yeah Salo should graduate this year rather than say signing a guy who didnt play last year to take the final spot on the Dcore

You don’t know which gardiner you’re going to get. He was pretty good before his injury, not as bad defensively as his reputation. I would let Salo play, it’s probably 50/50 he starts with the isles.

This is the same team that sent Devon Toews to the AHL when he was 24 YO

He’s prone to some bad turnovers but the pros outweigh the cons.

I can't get on board with that for Gardiner. He's one of very few player's that I absolutely do not care whatsoever about what the stats say. My eyes cannot stand that player.

His playoff performance have anything to do with that?

Agreed the eye test will never showed this but also Gardiner’s most common d partners from 2016-2019:
3. Roman Polak
2. Connor Carrick
1. Nikita Zaitsev

I suppose yes and no. It amplifies the burning hatred of the player and is cause for some emotional damage, but even if you remove playoffs completely, I still stand by my previous statement.

Edit: Hope it goes without saying, but this is all 'on-ice' only stuff. Don't want to be giving the impression that I condone the type of sh*t that people think is okay to do because they don't like a player.

As an average Joe who has never played anything beyond dominating basic head-to-head points fantasy hockey leagues, I'm interested in getting into a keeper or dynasty league this season. I was wondering if anyone could give me the general rundown of what a dynasty league would be like plus the best places to sign up. This may not be the right place to ask this, but since the "General Fantasy Talk" forums are drier than Arizona, I figured I'd ask here.

I'd recommend just doing a regular league first and then moving to dynasty...I don't do much of either but that is what I would do. I think if you have a good general hockey knowledge though you might be able to do it pretty well.

Marner is probs the easiest guy I could see getting 100

If he didnt get Covid probs would have 100+ points last season

In general all should reach 100 points if they stay healthy

Dont hate your pick but I'd say that the guy who is easiest to predict 100+ is Kaprizov. He drives play more than any of these players and with worse linemates would do better. That's just my personal opinion.

I would go with average linemates/replacement level.
Kaprizov
Rantenen
Marner
Panarin

My guess was mainly based on this

Marner would have had 100 points this year if Covid didnt keep him out 14 days like Kapri played all but 1 game to get 108 and if we look at Rantanen and Panarin both played 75 games (3more than marner) but had less points. Marner had 97 in 72 games so imagine if he didnt get covid. 110 + points could have happened as man was he ever on a point streak. Thats why I feel he was the easiest as the rate he was going was just nuts. Rantanen and Panarin closely follow. To bad for Matthews 60 goals lul as if he didnt do that Marners point streak would have been the talk of the NHL

Oh thee wiser ones. Can anyone tell me what would happen if Shea Weber suddenly retires, and just wont stay on LTIR?
Is it Nashville who would be stuck with the recapture penalties, as the original team making the contract he would retire from or???

I think I found it. Would be Montreal, but there shouldnt be any, as he was getting 12, 12, 6,6,6,6 nad caphit was 7.8M. Retiring after 2 years then might cause Vegas a headache, but dunno if being injured during the conract effects the situation.
Was thinking about Luongos recapture penalties Vancouver (specially) and Florida were stuck with.

Did you guys know that the impressively bad 16-17 Colorado Avalanche were 2nd in faceoff percentage?

Didn't. Not surprising it alone wont help if you got Pickard as nr.1 goalie, crap defense and all key players still starting their careers.

Nashville would get the penalty since they signed the contract ( even if the contract was a Philadelphia offer-sheet ). The amount of the cap recapture can’t exceed the AAV though ( it could before so most things that show a cap recapture are outdated )

Yeah Nashville would be hit by big recapture penalties. Now players can retire anytime with term left on their contract and may/may not invoke recapture penalties. The recapture penalties happen when a player retires early from his contract expiration AND his contract was FRONT LOADED in actually $$$$$.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that cap recapture penalties only apply to contracts signed before the lockout shortened 2012-13 season.

I don't think so. What the NHL is trying to avoid is teams cheating on salary cap, by having teams pay heavily in front loaded contracts then having the player retire before the contract has expired.
The NHL did change the signings rules and the "front load" salary has been reduced, but not eliminated, which still means there are so some front load penalities potentially.

Today is my father’s birthday, so happy birthday to him. Except from that I don’t think there’s nothing else important about today…

Recapture penalties at this point are mostly for guys who signed more than an 8 year deal ( so Keith, Weber, not too many left )
