Not Realistic But Fun

Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2022
Published: Jul. 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kadri hasn't signed yet and not many teams can bring him on at his desired salary. Sabres have the cap space and he can sign a one year deal here, we can deal him at the deadline and he can prove he could be a number 1 center for a longer term cash in next year. Do I think it will happen? No. But it makes sense and would be fun.

Good concept, except he's probably going to want a NTC with a 28 team no move list so he gets to decide what contender to go to at TDL. Meaning we probably won't get the value we should for him. But regardless, it's free assets so I'd do it

id even be fine with 9mill, half retention at the deadline and you buy yourself atleast a 2nd round pick. and if he decides to stay (unlikely but u never know) weve got another high point producing vet for one of the youngest teams in the NHL

I think your logic is spot on. Also, Klingberg just signed a one year deal - with a bottom 5-10 team - when he likewise thought he'd get a big 7 year deal. So theres a small chance it could happen.. and I'm now fully invested in this idea and will be crushed when it doesn't happen. Thanks

Good idea if he would sign. Even if he handcuffed us with a full no trade clause we get something for spending money at the end of the year anyway. I wouldn’t make him a top line Center, or more accurately I wouldn’t take Thompson away from Skinner and Tuch, but I would like to see him between Quinn and Krebs. Adding a guy like that actually makes the team better and gives the young guys a veteran hardnosed guy to learn from Who wins face-offs.

Since Klingberg signed a one year deal, one has to think the GM's are not giving 7 year deals to players over 29 years old.
Signing him would certainly sell more tickets.
Considering how well the Sabres played them last year he may want to stick to the Leafs four time this year.
Final thought, Karmanos would be engineering the trades at the TDL.
Hall in 2021 for only a second was a joke, as Sweeny took advantage of Adams lack of experience.
Kadri could easily get a Hagel return as he is just the sort of player that teams need for a deep playoff run.
@Tjm220 we may both be wrong but putting Nazem between Krebs and Quinn is pure genius, let the vet nurture and guide the young guns.

A little Machiavellian chicanery, he gets traded back to Colorado at the TDL at 50% retained.
Even if he signed with Buffalo for $9,000,000 his cap hit to the AVEs would only be $1,250,000.

Kadri doesn’t want another 1 year prove it deal. He wants years on a contract. I think he would take less $ a year for longer term
