Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Islanders could benefit from getting a player like Hoffman to play alongside Barzal + Hoffman only has two years remaining.
NYI
  1. Hoffman, Mike
Additional Details:
Cap dump for Montreal, they don't really need Hoffman.
2.
MTL
Basically any team willing to take on his contract for pics.
    ARI
    1. Allen, Jake
    2. 2023 7th round pick (MTL)
    3.
    MTL
    1. 2023 3rd round pick (CAR)
    SJS
    1. Dadonov, Evgeni
    Additional Details:
It doesn't look like San Jose is going to keep Dahlen, which gives an open slot in the middle 6 where Dadonov can play. + It doesn't make sense why Montreal would even acquire him?
    4.
    MTL
    1. Girard, Samuel
    Additional Details:
Montreal has struggled in the past few years with finding a powerplay specialist. Obtaining Girard gives them this. He is 24 with a lot of room to grow and would receive top minutes playing on Montreal. + This gives Colorado cap dump to extend Mackinnon and give Byram the top 4 minutes he deserves.
    COL
    1. Hutson, Lane [Reserve List]
    2. 2023 4th round pick (VGK)
    Additional Details:
Hutson is a 2nd round pick defenseman who is also a good puck mover with a top 4 upside. Montreal is essentially trading for a guy like Hutson further along in development.

sharks are also cap strapped and cant afford Dadenov and if we could we would have offered to grab him before Vegas,
And you got incentivized to take him and are getting incentivized to deal him how is this reasonable?

Girard was a minus on a cup winning team and only put up like 20 pts on the back end as a puck mover in the top 4. He isn't worth that much.

funny you would want to bring in a guy for top pairing minutes who you think is worthless

Isles are already trying to dump Bailey, Hoffman does not make sense as he would not replace anyone in the top-9.

He put up almost 30 points, and missed time. And he's only 24. He's worth much more than you're offering. Just look at what Romanov got you guys.

They've utilized him fine, he had one average season and got hurt in playoffs. Other than that he played top minutes when makar was injured during regular season and is a consistent top 4 in our lineup. Might be time to watch a couple games if you're going to criticize the guy

He was the biggest defensive liability on colorado's back end and is abysmal in front of the net. he slotted when there were injuries because he's next on the depth chart. COL doesn't need him as they have other players who are better defensively who can still move the puck. Girard is extremely overrated but would fit into what MTL needs. definitely not worth what COL fans are pricing him at.

Lol just abysmal infront of the net, extremely overrated, and a defensive liability but montreal could change him into a top pairing guy without flaws?
    figure it out

yes, that is exactly what im saying??? terrible defensively but gifted offensively, exactly what MTL needs for their PP. COL won a cup primarily without him (only played 7 games in the playoffs). MTL could develop him in their top 4 whereas with the emergence of Byram pushes colorado's hand. colorado doesn't really need girard anymore.

Dadanov and Hoffman cost to dump at least a 2nd each and nowhere close to get girard

If you’re using +/- to defend your case, you might as well give up. It’s a useless stat that does not define a player in the slightest

That doesn’t mean COL is trading him for anything less than they want and the piling heap of crap you are offering gets laughed at. You really think COL is going to trade a 24yr old puck moving dman locked up long term who produces 30 pts season in season out and always averages 20 plus minutes of ice for a kid just drafted smaller than Girard and a 4th round pick. Yeah go ahead and a 1st rd pick to it and COL still says no. Literally thinking that the franchise that literally sucked worse than everybody else is somehow going to not only make Girard better but convince the Stanley cup champions to take a bad deal is beyond hilarious.

SJ would have to send someone over to take on Dadonov since they're just about as cap strapped as MTL... e.g. Labanc, Simek

If Mike Hoffman is a cap dump, why are the Islanders sending back a 3rd for him? Typically a player you call a "cap dump" is someone you'd attach an asset to in order to get their contract off your cap.

Isles aren't going to give up a 3rd for 2x$4.5M of Mike Hoffman. I don't think any team in the league would currently give up any sort of positive asset for him - you could easily sign a guy like Sonny Milano or Evan Rodrigues to give you the same production Hoffman gives you, likely at a lower cap hit, and without having to take on a soon-to-be 33 year old goalscorer who forgot how to score goals.

Hilarious that you say Hoffman is a cap dump and then proceed to get a 3rd for him. Hoffman at this point wouldn't even make the Islanders NHL roster let alone play with Barzal. He put up his career-worst numbers, is 32, and makes 4.5 AAV for the next 2 years.
