Obviously the hope is there would be an extension in place for Pasta but mainly just going off of the report today from Friedman that the Bratt extension talks haven’t gotten anywhere.
An extension would certainly have to be in place for Pasta. But if they can sign Pasta ~$9 million…they should be able to afford $7 million for Bratt. I’m hoping it’s all just posturing, because at this point in off-season, if we had to trade him, it would be for a lot less than we would hope for.

If I'm Bratt I'm not signing for a penny less than what Jack got... It's slap in the face to put up the numbers Bratt has in 5yrs. service and then to see Hughes get 8 X 8M for 2 half played seasons.
Certainly more than Palat got, maybe more than Hischier. But trying to top Hughes may fall on deaf ears. No one doubts Hughes is the guy in this team.

The numbers Bratt has in 5 years? He had 4 years of 30-35 pts, and limited games played due to some injuries. His overall game broke out in 2020-21, and then this year another step with his goalscoring and a full season, but let's not act like he's been a star for 5 years or something.
To any fans that haven’t watched him play, the numbers don’t really do him justice. We have seen enough to know the skills are elite.
I would take Bratt without hesitation. And I think 32 GMs would agree if put in charge of NJD.
