I'd like to get feedback from the San Jose fan base, are they retooling or looking to rebuild according to management?

Not a San Jose fan but can’t see a rebuild . More of a build a better and stronger prospect pool while trying to move the older players and go younger .

Yeah, agree, and then it rolls to 2024 if it is top 5.
That 1st needs to be a mid to low pick to make it worth it. Maybe more strict 1st protections with addition of another decent player from NJ.

If Bonino and Nieto are healthy scratches, they need to be moved for picks.

I think you keep them in case the rookies don’t beat them in training camp

If Eklund has a breakout year and Karlsson plays a full season we could be good this year. Brandon Coe is a dark horse to crack the nhl roster this year.

    NJD:
Holtz -- A top-20 prospect, is NHL-ready and still has 3 years of his ELC remaining.
    2023 1st -- Will probably be a 6-10 range in a loaded draft.

    SJS:
Meier -- a great player with worrisome contract who will likely be a 1-year rental.

We have seen this very trade many, many times from SJS (not just Sharks, but everyone always asks for Holtz plus 1st).
    Devils decline every time.

I'd like to see one comp that has a likely top-10 pick (or top-15 pick) and top-20 prospect for a rental (or pending RFA that won't be qualified). I cannot come up with any.

Two of three things would need to occur for this to happen:

    1. The Devils would need to be a playoff team in 2022-23
    2. Meier would need to agree to a team-friendly contract before deal
    3. Holtz's development would need to hit the brakes.
