You'd love Kerfoot though, would be a great boost to your special teams, and can often be a difference maker.

Kerfoot is easily the better player, Toronto just can't afford to keep him, and would love to have Trenin's physicality on the Bottom 6.

Kerfoot is a good player but Trenin is younger and broke out with 17 goals last year a pace that he could easily break next season. He plays with more passion and physicality which is far more valuable than Kerfoots playoff abilities

What's going to be the ultimate selling point from Kerfoot comes from a business perspective, as he's only owed $750K next season.

I just think this trade would be beneficial for both teams.

Certainly was a difference maker in the play offs against Tampa Bay. Beautiful drop passes to the other team and untimely penalties are just what Nashville is looking for. And for a 3.5 million cap hit to boot. Great deal.

So two mistakes, and one bad call from the refs overshadow an otherwise great performance?

Not sure if I like it, but Dubas is going to want to try it regardless.

Haven't they tried it in the past?

Trenin shot 12.5% last year, which is incredibly unsustainable for a player of his ilk. He'll probably be a 15-20 goal guy MAX and that's with a huge bump in playing time on a contending team with high-end linemates.

Don't conflate physicality with impact, this isn't 1993.

He played 8 games in the Leafs Bottom 6 in 2019-20, then went back to Europe when the pandemic started, and has remained and played there since. He's apparently ready to come back now.
