Canes pass. Dermott does not do anything to really help the Canes.

Canucks got good value at 15 but I do wonder if they will regret not taking a d man

Carolina needs a lefty d man and I don’t think Bear or Dermott are far apart in terms of talent. But given the fact Bear is a righty I think Carolina could probably package him for someone significantly better than Dermott. And that’s the reason Carolina shouldn’t make this deal.

im more worried that our last pick in the first 2 rounds that wasnt a winger was quinn hughes, and we signed 2 wingers this offseason... gonna have the best wings in the league lmao

Don't expect anything back in the Meyers trade.

They probably should try and trade their surplus wingers for defenseman.

Maybe a Tanner Pearson for Brendan Dillon swap?
I would suggest Brock Boeser for Ivan Provorov but Philly also has too many wingers.

Sure if you trade him to a team who needs a defensemen to compete. AZ is not that team. Even when they're competing like CAR and VGK. Patches went for nothing expect the same if you trade him to AZ or a cap team.

Patches is a winger who struggled to stay healthy last season, Myers is a RD which is a hot commodity even from strictly a positional standpoint

Oh my goodness. It's a 6 mil cap hit for a 32 year old player who scored 1 goal last year. No way is that appetizing for a young team like AZ to take on for other assets. Not a chance.

Per Friedman he has a positive value, other insiders were saying he was valued at a late 1st in this past draft. Any RHD is expensive, even if they're underperforming for their contract.

We're they talking about the Myers from Winnipeg? Here's an example of a D with value but a big cap hit. Look at Marc Staal to the Wings, and again AZ is not the team that will be giving up assets. A team that needs a D like FL for example might but they can't afford the cap hit. This is why most likely you'll have to pay or accept a smaller return

would need to be RHD, LHD is pretty well set with hughes, OEL, rathbone

Okay, what team? What team can take on a $6 million 2nd or 3rd pair defensemen? He's not untradable or undesirable but recent history has shown this is the cost. Look at everyone's cap space right now not many teams can take on that contract with no retention without sending out an equal or slightly less amount of cap.

He was injured, not scratched. Had a bone fragment in his ankle displaced blocking a shot against Calgary. Plus, he suffered from long covid. Bear before he had a stint on the COVID list actually played top pairing next to Slavin. It wasn't until almost a month into the season DeAngelo was moved to that top pair. Calling Bear a "project" shows a lack of knowledge on this player

wouldnt be now it would be next year.... cap goes up, one year left on his contract and owed a lot less than 6m once his bonus is payed. makes no sense to speculate what team would be in a position to make that trade 12 months from now but if he has value right now, he still will next year

maybe project is the wrong word but both dermott and bear are in similar positions with their development. and bear rumored to be on the way out of carolina

He was just signed, it's going to take more than Dermott (who is a project) for him. If you want Bear, he is likely expendable, but probably for picks and futures.
