Samuelson is really good top 4 defenseman and you have him scratched. Quinn will be in the lineup. They aren’t signing Strålman their team is set.

@Knuckl3s Strålman may be the perfect RHD to help the other all under 25 yo defensemen learn how to play.
This is the first post that I have seen him as an option for the Sabres, good idea.
At the TDL, a desperate team may cough up a decent pick.
It is surprising that neither he nor Kessel were traded at last year's TDL, maybe the price was too high.

Bjork is a 14th forward, Dahlin is RD, Samuelsson is top pair with Dahlin, Okposo is not a 2nd liner and Asplund easily deserves a middle 6 spot. Apparently Gretzkyghosts thinks I'm complaining about Stralman but I don't really care if they sign him or not

How is Samuelsson a top 4 defenseman? He only had 10 assists in 42 games

Okay, I can shuffle some things around, but I don't understand the argument for Samuelsson being a top pairing defenseman, like, what the hell has he ever done? He only had 10 assists in 42 games last year

He’s not going to put up points, he’s a defensive defenseman. He got hurt before the season started that’s why he only played 42 games.

I know it’s a foreign concept but sometimes you actually want a defenseman who plays defense instead of trying to play forward all the time. This annoying trend that the Norris trophy goes to the defenseman who scored the most points should stop. Maybe they should remember it’s a defenseman‘s primary job to stop the other team from scoring.

Samuelson will be top pair D with Dahlin. Stralman not coming to Buffalo. Too old. Adams going with the youth. Also Peterka will not be a scratch. He will be in top 9 of fwds or start in Rochester this year and be 1st call up with injuries or Quinn struggling they rotate. But Peterka will never be a scratch with Buffalo

How can I tell if anybody is making a good impact defensively on a team like Buffalo? That's the thing

Are you an insider or something? Who are you to say Peterka won't be the 13th/14th forward? Haven't you heard the Sabres want to bring in a veteran defenseman?

I find it kind of suspicious that a non-playoff team's fanbase would all of a sudden advocate so heavily for a player whom other fanbases aren't really familiar with

13/14 forward? Let him play in Rochester and be top guy and get all the min. Also they did bring a Vet d in Lyub. They have so many young kids Adams wants to see what he has. Next year is the year he makes all the moves if need be. Kane comes to Buff. And a few others. Stick to following your Canucks. They disappoint you like the Sabres do us!

Well you obviously don’t know too much about the Sabres which is fine I don’t know how Vancouver is going to line up.

You’d have to watch them play once in a while to know. If ESPN or NHL Tonight doesn’t do a feature on them most West Coast hockey fans don’t have a clue. Like most Buffalo fans know that Casey Fitzgerald has a future as a physical, tough defender too, and everyone else’s fan base thinks he’s trade bait.

As far as I see, Casey Fitzgerald is a bottom of the lineup/tweener. I need to see how Samuelsson does this upcoming season before I'm convinced he's the real deal

Your team hasn't been good for a long time, I have no reason to buy into a player on your team supposedly being better than his stats show. Not saying he isn't capable of being a regular in the lineup, but if he's not putting up much offense, NOR playing 20+ minutes of ice time a night, proclaiming Samuelsson to be top pair caliber is a hard sell for non Sabres fans, and rightfully so

Lyubushkin isn't a veteran. The days of the Canucks disappointing are now behind, and the Sabres should be following right behind in close order

Lyub 5th year. Veteran for Sabres standard. Hope the Canucks and Sabres are in Cup Finals this year. 2 1970 teams

Probably not this upcoming season. Sabres likely don't even make the playoffs, they're barely above the cap floor, and their contention window is probably at least two years behind the Canucks

We are not acquiring him and giving up assets. He is a UFA after this season. He and Adams played together in Chi Adams last year Kanes 1st. Both from Buffalo Adams took him under his wing. Kane had so much respect for Adams. Would be perfect for both of them to be apart of Sabres 1st Stanley Cup. I see him signing here for 2-3 years next July

So it's just about not paying the acquisition cost, I see. I suppose he'd come in at a lower cap hit as well
