2015 The What If Of What Ifs

Description
I’ve been a Bruins fan since Bobby Orr went airborn against St Louis and in all this time I have to say the 2015 draft will never not haunt me. It was not a total failure since Debrusk has been a capable 2nd liner and Carlo has lived up to his billing… but look at what the next 3 picks after ours were… now let’s remake history a bit and kick ourselves for what could have been now

So I removed Hall because we would have had no need for him with Connor. I removed Lindholm because who needs him with Chabot?

Now here’s my alternative history… No idiotic Rick Nash trade means we may still have Ryan Lindgren. I think we will draft Charlie because we need RHD. Then with him coming along as well as Chabot in place there’s no need to draft Uhro. In my alternate world we draft Josh Norris.

No dumb dumb Nash trade means we have the 2018 1st. Who knows what we do with it but I’m taking Sandin because it screws the Leafs and that’s funny.

No Lindholm trade means we keep our 1st. I’ll keep Gaucher as the pick.

Swayman and Rask would be by our goalie tandem hence Ullmark doesn’t sign.

By altering this draft you alter the standings and draft order for the following drafts. By altering Bostons picks you alter every pick after them. Altering standings and team needs in future drafts.

Maybe someone who missed out on someone in 15 takes Mac before he gets to the Bruins. Maybe Boston finishes with a better record and pick later.

Same with 2017 draft.

Butterfly affect.

Quit crying over spilled milk. It accomplishes nothing.

But lets do it. Why stop after the 1st.

Lets take Connor
Take Chabot - despite being all offense/no defense in jrs - exact opposite of what they needed
Take a center - despite Bergy and DK being entrenched as top 6 for years to come - but take Aho - better choice

Round 2

Keep Carlo
Take Hintz over JFK
Take Dunn or Rasmus Anderson over Lauzon

Round 3. Take Nichols Roy over Vladar

Round 4 take Conor Garland over Jesse Gabrielle

Round 5 - don’t trade the pick to Minny and take Kaprizov themselves.

Phew. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There has never been a perfect draft…by any team.

Lining 3 up in the first like that is like the Vikings swearing about Gary anderson or the 04 flames or 99 Sabres. Reminisce for a lifetime til there’s something new, Boston fans pre Kraft, 04 and 11 understand.

Your explanation is perfect in theory but it's just not reality. Every team in the history of NHL has made choices that look bad in the following years, the Bruins aren't special. You need to realize it's impossible to have a perfect draft, let alone a good draft where 50% of the kids drafted by the team play 100+ NHL games for them

I’ve been around plenty long enough to know that. I am pissed we missed on 3 picks in a row and Debrusk is still a miss given Connor was there

Yep. I spent all that time from 71 onward waiting on the Bruins. The same with the Sox

in my opinion they just missed on 1 pick. Zboril was projected to get drafted before Chabot, JD was a good pick, so Senyshyn was the only reach where they should've taken Connor instead.

Zboril is still a miss. Projections are often wrong. Debrusk with Connor would have been a great result.
