Fair enough. Not identical but similar

How is that similar? Girard is locked up for half a decade younger and higher production. Now I get why BUF wouldn’t be interested with Power and Dahlin but Girard’s value is significantly higher than the CF community wants to give him credit for. What are the most desirable traits for a young dman in the NHL now? Being able to move the puck, strong skating, defensive acumen and size are at the top of the list, Girard has 3 of those and arguably the 3 most important. It isn’t Girard’s fault and no reflection of his value that COL got a generational dman in Makar who blocked his path to being the qb of PP1.

girard could easily get that a rental, never mind having a great contract on top of that. not as intrigued with samuelsson to be honest. peterka fills a need much better. you would have tough time getting a #3d locked up long term at good money without adding a good prospect.

Samuelsson is our 3rd d. Please stop. It's not a fit. We have 4 puck moving defensmen younger than girard.

You'll be changing your tune. He is dahlins partner and was already playing 20 minutes a night. He is a carlo/pesce type

Again, you'll be changing your tune this year, he would have made the team last year out of camp but was hurt. He's a former high pick who has gotten better every year since the draft.

As I said, buffalo has a young defense core and isn't trading prime assets for girard.

Similar as in young Dman in a cap strapped situation. Girard might have more but I truly can't see it being that much higher than Toews
