I just can't see Jim Nill giving up 2 firsts. Take out Toews. You would need to pay Dallas to take him.

Johnston is a non starter so no there as well.

This trade proposal just needs to go away.

As bad as you're making Toews sound as a player...Faksa is worse. ALOT worse. Last year Toews' year would have been Faksa's career best year. Lower cap hit too. Less years committed too. This move would make them immediate cup contenders.

The two 1sts are easy to give on. The 32nd pick in ANY draft is a magic bean. Nothing guaranteed. I can understand Wyatt might need to swap to Stank, but it would be one of the two.

I guess I'm not as bullish on the Stars. Granted they are my team but I don't see this as a move to make them a contender. It doesn't move Dallas past the Avalanche nor the Blues.

Plus I've never liked Toews. Just my personal opinion.

I honestly would rather have our prospects and 1st rounders. Continuing to build our pipeline and take a look at building a contender 3 or 4 years down the road.

That's fair. If you don't think the Stars are contenders...I get it. Truly there is no reason to trade for a pending UFA if you're not contending. With respect to COL though, that's where I think a guy like Toews is actually extra critical. He'd most certainly go up against MacKinnon. The best way to help neutralize Mac's effect is to keep the puck away from him. Toews is 59% at the dot and even if his points production isn't there...he's still a very strong defensive center. Benn has enough physicality to be a #3 winger too. IMO that's a dangerous 3rd line. Likely the best 3rd line on all of hockey. That will free up the point producers to do what they do best. Also, Mason is one of the more underrated signings this summer. He's a big and fast guy that has some skill to his game. Sure, it's taken him a few more years than most other guys, but at $4.5M and the other talent on this team...he's not the main focus. He's a support player and can do that. The focus on this team is still Robertson and Kaner.

I would’ve given up Johnston for Tkachuk, NOT Kane and Toews, even with full retention. Johnston is a league wide top prospect and will not be traded for a rental (or even two).

Good grief. Johnston isn’t going anywhere. Toews is a cap dump. Kane is a rental. Drugs are bad.

Your argument is Toews is better than Faksa? Lol

Easily. His worst year in his career is head and shoulders above Faksa best year. Taking on Faksas cap dump

Be excited about your prospect. Sure, any comp to Tkachuk isn't realistic.
