Looking at their situation

Description
Now I do not know everything about their current situation so if I miss something just let me know. With the moves Yzerman took they def are gonna be better this year. But I don’t think they make the playoffs. There offense is looking a lot better and will get better as guys develop. They probably don’t need to look to add their until they are looking to contend. There golaie are not great but solid just there till Cossa is ready. Their defense is weakest to me. They definitely need to upgrade defense in the future in order to contend. Overall, they are a lot better but just not good enough to get a spot in the competitive east. Have a better year and let the young guys develop. On the business side of things they should really be focused on extending Larkin, finding a replacement for Bertuzzi because He isn’t worth keeping, and thinking about how they are gonna extend Vrana, Seider, and Raymond in the future. Future is def bright for wings fans

Couple things here. Goalies are actually pretty solid but you're right they need a D behind them. They should be much better on defense this year. Oesterle will probably be the 7th D. Wings will have at least one of their top D prospects on the left side. The line up will not look different than what you have here. Biggest change is Veleno will be in there and Ras will be on the wing. I'm not saying they make the playoffs but the days of giving up 10 goals and not being surprised are over. My biggest concerns are Larkin and Bertuzzi getting resigned or traded.

I think goaltending is better than people think. Ned is a very good goalie and the only reason he didn't "look good" last year is largely to do with the teams defence. Now they actually have some guys that can play defence so that should take some pressure off the young guys. Not a fan of the pylon Chiarot but he should help solidify that pairing with Seider. Maatta could definitely help Hronek with his game and a third pairing of Walman and Lindstrom is going to be sneaky good. I think Bertuzzi is worth keeping, at the right price. In my opinion that's right around 6M as he plays a really good two way game and his offense seems to keep improving. It's going to be nice to have more than one line producing this year.

He doesn't have Zadina in there and I suspect Walman to be on that third pairing with Lindstrom until maatta is dealt at the deadline then Edvinsson probably plays the last part of the season.

I actually think Edvisson plays the whole year in GR. Johanssen plays in Detroit. He's been sneaky good. Walman is out for at least a couple months. Zadina isn't signed just yet I guess they're going to arbitration. We're rumored for Kadri so if that happens then everything changes.

I don't give Friedman much benefit about Kadri. I feel like of course Yzerman is going to contact his agent and see if he can get a good deal on him but I don't see us as his destination. That said his options are getting very limited. I wouldn't mind seeing Johanssen playing next season at all.

I wouldn’t sign Kadri If I am the wings his age doesn’t fit what they are trying to do.

I agree with everything J just feel like with Bertuzzi’d vaccine issues and him being unable to play in Canada it would be better to find a replacement in free agency. He is a good player but he is replaceable especially this coming free agency will have some talented young forwards

I personally think the line up with be
Bert Larkin Raymond
Vrana Copp Zadina
Kubalik Suter Perron
Erne Rasmussen Sundqvist

Chiarot Seider
Maatta Hronek
Edvinsson / Johanssen Lindstrom

Smith
Oesterle
Pysyk

That third pairing like that until Walman returns, then who knows with injuries.

I would for a one year deal maybe. But I feel that just pushes someone else down the line up. Only benefit is trading him at the deadline in my eyes.

I don't disagree and he could fetch a nice return. We need to fix our s*** in Canada.

I agree a lot people are putting Vrana opposite Raymond on Larkin's line. But Vrana and Raymond have a very similar style of play it doesn't make sense to put them on the same line.

I think it would be quite hard to find a replacement for Bertuzzi. He is a 200' player and pretty good defensively. He is very physical and he seems to love the dirty areas. Now add in that he scored 30 goals and averaged almost a point a game. He only misses 8 games being unvaxed and it doesn't seem to bother Yzerman or Larkin both were asked several times about him not vaxing. They both said they would like to have Bertuzzi when playing in Canada but it's his decision and they respect that. Covid restrictions are starting to loosen across Canada. Several cities with junior or AHL team have announced they will be allowing unvaxed fans in. I still think Canada is going to allow unvaxed NHL players in this season.
