Yeah not happening you wont get both the 3rd and 5th overall pick, You've to surrender your 5th overall pick as part of the package to get the 3rd overall pick. And besides they pretty much said that it's Dallas and Detroit that's in talks for the 3rd overall pick.

The Stars would not get a top 4 D man or top 6 forward trading their 3rd overall according to bob McKenzie. Tanev without the 2nd should get them both of Dallas 1st rounders especially if they are taking Niemi back. Considering Tanev would immediately be their top D man, you are undervaluing him immensely. The players taken with these picks are likely years away from having any impact on the Canucks.
