Sandin really has no grounds to ask for more as if we look at the 4 comparables to him one is making 1.4, one made 1.85mill, and the better 2 are making 2.6 and 2.5mill. Sandin and Liligren had very similar seasons and Lily just signed 1.4mill x 2 years. 1.6mill x 2 years for Sandin is more than fair considering he and Lily had the same numbers

But either way, Toronto does not do this trade as Sandin got more value. And people gonna say

WhAt AbOuT aN OfFeR ShEet?

Well if one was to happen it would have happened weeks ago when teams were allowed to do so. Nobody got the balls to do it as Carolina basically made teams fearful of one when they retaliated against MTL.

I think Sandin will end up getting around Bear’s contract and Necas something like 2 x $4,000,000

But yes the retaliation 100% makes teams fearful on submitting an OS

Maybe but idk considering what hes done vs. Liligren 2mill seems like overkill. As I would understand if he has 20 more points or something but so far both have done the same in their short NHL seasons together.

Either way probs right of a 2mill x 2yrs but who knows.

Hurricanes QO for Necas was at 1.6 , very big low ball. They are looking to shop him but I don’t believe they will find anything and they will meet in the middle.

ROR was offsheeted well into the off-season when he was offer sheeted. You may say it would have been done now but if sandin is offersheeted it could happen any time before he is signed in Toronto. I don’t think Toronto does this but I wouldn’t rule out an offer sheet at all. Also it was retaliation for offer sheeting their best player, not Rasmus sandin. If sandin was the the leafs best d man I would be scared to OS but he’s not. Don’t rule anything out as it’s still the off-season buddy.

A similar aged high end player. Reasoning behind on why they were on Tkachuk and one of the Finalist to land him. Someone to fit our system, skillful grit. Hard to find now that Tkachuk is off of the board. I could see a guy like J. Robo, but it wouldn’t happen.

ROR was an OS that made 0 sense as he would have had to be waived when he came over meaning that even if Calgary got him they would lose him to waivers. So not a great example.

If an offersheet was to happen it would have been done at the beginning of the offseason when teams were permitted to not now when teams have already spent on big free agents. Teams know the cap situation and would have offersheeted by now if they felt they could get him. As Carolina demonstrated the fear or retaliation from an OS can happen at any moment. Doesnt matter if its Aho to KK to potentially Sandin a player getting OS can spark retaliation at any point thats why teams are more hesitant to do so as its not worth the headache for both teams especially when we consider only 5 have been done since 2010

ROR is a bad example in that sense but proof that they can happen whenever. Remember when nylander was holding out and people were offer sheeting him?

Nobody offersheeted Nylander but people on ACGM's that said real GM's offered trade packages for him but werent good enough to move the needle and looking back on it now thank **** as 6.9mill for a 30+ goal scorer = steal

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/beyond-headlines-leafs-nylander-hasnt-received-offer-sheet/

Now Marner was offered 2 OS but he had 0 interest in signing them there was 0 reason to leave his hometown team even if 13+ mill was being given

Necas ain’t signing that. I’d expect a min of $3.5m on maybe 1-2 year deal or traded.

Please explain how a QO is a lowball offer? Do you happen to know how a QO works?

What makes you think they’re shopping him, outside of the once in a blue moon Tkachuk opportunity, since they’ve explicitly said they’re looking to sign him?

If someone will take Gardiner and Bear, awesome. Milano and Puljujarvi are unnecessary at this point. Sandin doesnt interest me much knowing he will want more than 1.6.

His original QO was around 900k, I know what a QO is and I know how it works. I’m saying that it Necas wants to stay in the Hurricanes organization and prove himself at C, he will need to take a very friendly bridge deal or he will be Traded. You guys come in here and act like you know all, when it reality we’ve seen top guys sign less and big guys get traded for a bag of rocks. This isn’t a fairytale offer, this is a meet in the middle offer for both parties.
