Jetfoil and Holl are useless to us. They are essentially cap dumps in this deal

Niemela was really good in Liiga this year, I think at most Vancouver gets maybe an extra second round pick. Niemela was third in LIIGA in ppg for defenceman, only behind two 25 year olds. Button ranked him the 21st best NHL prospect and the Hockey Writers named him 29th. I really like him

Value seems fair more or less. A variation on the ol' first, a prospect and a player.

The issue I have as the leafs as its so much for a rental that we have zero ability to resign.

Usually when a team trades for a pending Ufa they plan to at least try to keep the guy if it works well. The leafs simply can't because of the cap. It makes me so hesitant to pay the asking price with that in mind

I’m not complaining about Niemala. I’m simply saying that Kerfoot and Holl bring no value to Vancouver

I only really added Holl to make the cap work. Kerfoot could likely be resigned for 3 c though

Why do all Canucks Miller trades to TO either have Kerfoot and Holl as "key pieces" or 1 for 1 on Nylander.

Both of those trades don't help us.

It doesn't have them as key pieces. It makes the money work.

I’m sad you genuinely believe that. For Kerfoot anyway. Holl I can’t get rid of fast enough.

Do you really think the Canucks have any use for 2 rentals? They don’t, hence, useless to the canucks

They could likely resign Kerfoot, I'm sure he'd love to play here

But he’s probably looking to get paid around 5 million dollars. I don’t think we should be paying a third liner 5 million dollars again

I Doubt he gets anymore then 3 million (with Vancouver at least, since hometown discount) which isn't that bad for a 3 c

If Kerfoot accepts 3-3.25M over a medium term deal to play for the Canucks, maybe Vancouver would entertain the idea of acquiring him, but they aren't giving him any more money than that

There are barely any of them lately. I could not find one scrolling through several trades of Capfriendly. Stop making a problem out of nothing

Kerfoot isn’t just a 3C he can play anywhere in the lineup, in all situations. Kerfoot is making 5 mill easy. Hometown discount or not.

Well the Canucks don’t need him. Have you even seen our top 9? Kerfoot isn’t scratching our top 6, his only spot is as a 3C which we don’t have the cap space to spend 5 mil on

Yeah but literally EVERY trade with them both "as money work" pieces are just like a second, Kerfoot, Holl and Topi

Sorry but everything there is not of interest to us

I highly doubt anyone can afford to pay Kerfoot 5 million right now

Topi Niemela could be really good, that along with a first would be great for Vancouver

But that alone, plus the Holl and Kerfoot that are always on the trade aren't appealing enough for Miller.

No a low B level prospect and essentially a second round pick, are far from great return for miller...

Niemela is ranked the 21st best prospect by TSN and 29th by the hockey writers (at the least in midseason) out of all NHL prospects. The first likely falls between 24-30 which is still nice to have for the prospect pool. The market for forwards isn't good right now

Topi is not that good. Homer rankings tbh (TSN is like the king of over hyping certain players) He's a B level prospect. And a 24th-30th pick is not "that great" it's likely a middle line player.

The market is always good for forwards. It's just teams don't want to sell low, when they know if they wait they can get the high price.

Topi and a 24th-30th aren't even half of millers value.
