a new JT Miller proposal

Created by: AG_sweden
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2022
Published: Aug. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- whoever doesn't make the roster of Höglander or Kravtsov can / should be moved for pick or prospect. Preferably a center prospect.
- Schneider is a Trouba 2.0, sadly we already have Trouba 1.0 and with a gross overpayment with 8 M av. And that contract isn't getting moved so, we are stuck with him.
- BUT if we can get at least one CUP win, by sending Schneider to VAN I think it is worth it.
- by the way love Schneider, and he has the best chance to develop in VAN.
- Betting on Lundkvist to be a serviceable 6th d-am at least, which I definitely think he can be/is.
- Betting that this will give us three equally dangerous lines that can score (taking after AVS philosophy)
- with the first round pick 2023 NYR should get center prospect.

I think the Canucks prefer 2023 since it will help them sooner.

As for the trade, it's not really far off value wise, Miller would have to have agreed to an extension before the trade I'm assuming.

Hoglander isn’t a sweetener lmao. He’s a 21 year old with 2 years of NHL top 9 experience. This trade is basically Hoglander for 2024 first, and Miller for Chytil and Schneider. Canucks are losing a lot of value here

I don't think VAN would want a first round pick the year NYR will be the strongest (on paper at least) Besides if it wouldn't work out for NYR then they could land decent center prospects in 2023 draft.

This is purely rental proposal.

Only if NYR can / are willing to move Panarin then extension talk with J.T would be possible (and don't think Panarin would wave his no-move clause either)

I think so too. I would prefer the package OP posted in their last acgm. If Van is moving Hoglander in this deal then NY would likely have to add another pick or take back a contract like poolman. Maybe move the pick to 2023 to add value as well

Same Höglander that isn't listed in the lineup as of now? It is clear he isn't seen that favorably by Bruce. It is either that, or top 10 - 15 protected first round pick 2024. NYR doesn't need Höglander.
J.T. Miller VAN will lose to free agency one year from now. We can keep Schneider, our first and Chytil and you can sit there with nothing wink

Fair enough. If this is what Van can get at the deadline as a pure rental trade, I think they should take it.

Hoglander is on our roster what are you talking about? He has a sophomore slump like a lot of people and everybody wants to dump him immediately like come on. He’s top 8 in production for the 2019 draft year

Still think these trades always end up benefitting the Rangers, but at least this one is a new take.

But Bruce wasn't coaching then. Your only as good as last year performance.

Jt will regress at will be cheaper if the Rangers want him at the TDL. This is a massive overpay for a rental.

I don't agree - NYR get one year of Miller and perhaps a prospect in Höglander trade. Or a top 9 player in Höglander. That is it.

VAN gets possible D-man partner with Hughes. They get top 9 C/F in Chytil and first round pick in a year of weakened roster for NYR.

But hey, lets do like this then. Remove Höglander (NYR don't need him) and instead a top 10 protected first round pick 2024.

And if that is not acceptable - well then no trade then.

I wonder where Miller will be playing a year from now ? :P

By that logic that means Miller is a top 10 player in the league because he was top 10 in points this past season. Worth more than everyone on your roster. Do you see how flawed your logic is?

This a all in move to win at least one CUP with the horrible Trouba contract. And I don't think it is that massive overpayment. Lundkvist is still okay player/ prospect.

no they don't, definitely not. They can trade him to whomever they like . And telling people to grow up because you disagree isn't being grown up. So walk the walk if you gonna talk the talk.

What I meant is if it is going to be a discussion like you are running I don't want to trade for Miller. That is it

You keep saying “fine lose him for nothing”

I will trust in the hockey knowledge of the GM that got the 3rd youngest team to the ECF over your opinion.

yeah right, sure. But couldn't we say this about every proposal here ? And I am sure Drury is aware of the issues loaming next year. And he is trying to amend this but teams generally aren't that interested in helping the opposition. Secondly Schneider is Trouba 2.0 problem is we already have Trouba 1.0 and he is costing NYR 8 M for the next 4 years. Next year is going to be a complete dumpster fire...

Trouba's NMC burns off in 2 years at the exact same time Schneider needs a new contract. That is when Trouba will get moved and Schneider moves into his spot. To trade Schneider is penny wise and pound foolish IMO and Drury isn't going to do it. And Trouba's contract will be moveable in 2 years when he is only 30....they moved out Staal's entire contract when he was older than that and was half the player Trouba will be then.
