Offseason

Created by: theprodigalkn1ght
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2022
Published: Aug. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rangers get a 99-point-producing Center/Winger for 2.75 million a season and a number 5-7 defenceman who can play both sides at 800k. Definitely a win-now trade but definitely improves the Rangers overall.

Canucks retain a lot of salary, but only for one year. They get younger and address their biggest needs with a potential number 2 defenceman in Schneider. Chytil still has some upside and Korzak + the 2nd improves the Canucks future.

Rangers aren’t trading Schneider in a package for Miller. That’s a large part of the reason nothing happened at the deadline with Miller and NYR.

If the rangers see a legitimate window and want to push for a strong cup run then losing Schnieder wouldn’t ruin those chances but adding Miller would absolutely improve them.

Staple said Drury wouldn’t move him last year. He’s a really good defenseman and I think every rangers fan IK would agree they shouldn’t deal him for Miller. That doesn’t mean I’m right ofc.

Yeah I see what you mean, he’s a great defensemen and I would be extremely happy with him in return especially to see him paired with Hughes hopefully for the long haul. All I’m saying is your right side is already stacked with Schnieder playing on the 3rd pairing for the foreseeable future while Fox and Trouba are still around. If the team wants to make a true run at the cup with the core they have now then Schnieder has to be expendable and use that to improve your team short term

I’m not a rangers fan but I think the Rangers r pretty dead set on keeping Schneider. I think they will ask Trouba to waive before they consider moving Schneider.

Perdy n all for 1yr, but Jonathan is no messiah. Hard pass. This would be sadly embarrassing as of next year. You know how desperate you knuckleheads are for a big cheap young D, ditto NYR...

Getting miller would add to a one year window but keeping Schneider would keep our window open longer

But at that cost the long term ramifications far outweigh the gain for one year. hence why you want Schneider and we don't want to give him up.

Miller and Schnieder are very different players in terms of what kind of player you’re getting. Obviously Schnieder is a great young player to have long term but not if NY wants to add a 99 point 1st line forward (even for just 1 season) it’s gonna cost them a player like that.

Why not go for a cup run with the team you have now before they age out? You can’t expect to afford all of your young players on top of the contracts you already have signed long term (panarin , trouba , etc)

Miller for schnieder is in no way shape or form a similar scenario to Krieder for Petey and Hughes but go off bro

Miller had 20 more points that Krieder and is 2 years younger. NY is is much more of a win now mode than Vancouver

Bruh I just joined last month. I honestly don’t understand how I’m being toxic in this. You’re the one who compared trading Miller for a young rhd that’s not getting much ice time to trading Krieder for Petey and Hughes. I called you delusional cause that’s an terrible take away to have from what we discussed in this forum.
