IMO, Zero chance the leafs trade Knies for essentially one year of dumba.

I doubt Toronto moves Knies, especially for a rental. I actually would prefer the pick if we are also acquiring Miller.

Ottawa won't pay that for Zucc, their top 6 is set anyways after the DeBrincat trade and signing Giroux.

Kerfoot and knies for dumba is overpaying, your not getting leaf’s top prospect. Miller is more of a winger then a centre. If so I’d put Rossi in the first line. Put boldly on the second.
Here are my lines
Kaprizov-Rossi-Hartman
Miller-Eriksson Ek-boldy
Greenway-Jost-foligno
Beckman-Gaudrea-dewar

The other places I was considering were DET and NJD for Zucc, I would be fine if it was a first instead of Knies, but just went with it for the sake of hopefulness.

Dumba would be a luxury. The leafs donr need RD at all, they need a top 6lw/c. And they arnt moving knies unless it's a real good one

I just don't see a team paying that for Zucc. He had a great year, but it's a big cap hit and he'll be 35 in a month. Might as well just keep him, he's good, best buds with Kap, and great in the room allegedly.

My thought process was based off the athletics rankings of top drafted prospects and Knies was an honorable mention after the top 50 that they may want to keep their first this year in a stacked draft class. I was between the first and him.

Emphasis on the big cap hit - GMBG has to do something here, sitting on his hands doesn't seem very like him, so I guess just see where the dominos start to fall?

Peart's a left side D. So Canucks decline unless you give us right side D in Addison or Faber which we need right now

Jt Miller as a rental isn't worth that. You are giving away kaprizov's best friend and mentor for what? Guerin just kaprizov for a reason

I think he's worth that. 9th in scoring among all players last year with 99 points. Hell, Duchene got about that when he was traded to Columbus and he was only about a PPG player when that trade was made.

If I'm Ottawa I do have interest in Matt Dumba or any other top four defenceman on the Wild but Duhaime and Zucc are not players I'd be willing to trade for, simply because we don't need them.

But even reporters like Friedman or whatever his name is, has stated at deadlines including last year people continue to basically laugh at ottowa behind their back for making that deal. I think if jt was worth that, some teams would have. We all also know Guerin's hesitation to pay 1st rounder or prospects for rentals. No thanks to paying 1st round picks or prospects for rentals. 2nd round pick, yes

Billy's motto has always been "if it makes us a better team, we'll do it". He has said that many times ever since he has been hired. I don't think he's going to do something just to do something, he really doesn't have to do anything... And by all accounts he has been shopping Dumba. The fact nothing has happened yet says a lot about Dumba's value among GM's (IMO).

I'm not talking about Ottawa, I'm talking about the trade that sent Duchene to Columbus. At the time, Duchene had 1 year remaining on a $6M deal, was fresh off a 70 point season in 73 games, and was moved for a 1st, Davidsson, Abramov, and a coniditonal first upon Duchene re-signing (no longer allowed). At the time, that's a pretty close price to this package for a worse player. And I think if you asked Jarmo, he'd do that deal again. Duchene was great for them in the playoffs.

In case you need a refresher

Rather keep our 1st especially in a draft which is supposed to be one of the deepest in a long while. You can get a cheap true C on elc and don't have to give up a prospect also for a rental. 2nd and like Calen addison should be okay

I don't disagree but if you can get a 1st in a different deal for Dumba like this post, then I would definitely consider moving one for Miller.

2nd and Addison is nowhere near enough for Miller. You realize this guy scored 9 fewer points than Kaprizov, and is a center, right? I caught a fair amount of Canucks games last year just to watch Miller. He is really good, he's better than Fiala and would easily be our 2nd best player.

I just personally would get a true C like eichel,, or sam Reinhart. I just don't see it Miller as a true C. I understand his 1 good season at C and how good he was, if we get a 1st for dumba then use that for him and like Calen addison, yes. We all have been Minnesota fans long enough not to have to deal with another situation, a player doesn't fit position long term

Ottawa has no need and room for Zuccarello and Duhaime

PP time will already be hard to split, they're not adding Zucc

And the smart thing would be to keep that 2023 first for now

They're not spending it on something they don't need.
