Greig isn't going no were unless its a top 6 LW that makes less than 7M, he will eventually replace Debrincat when he leaves in 2 year

Arizona isn’t just taking zaitsev, dude is owed $7m in salary and $9m in cap space over the next two seasons. That’s 1st round pick territory to dump

Ottawa isn’t taking on Chychruns full AAV without sending cap back

If Dorion found a way to get Cat without giving Greig then I trust he can do the same with Arizona and Chychrun

Armstrong has shown to be far more patient. The asking price is high for Chyc and it has shown to stay that way.

He wants 3 good assets.

A 2023 1st is 1 good asset in a great draft.

JBD or Thomson is another. Both project top 4 but bring different skillsets .

I don’t see why Ostapchuk and another 2nd round pick wouldn’t equal 1 good asset.

JBD
Ostapchuk
2023 1st
Washington 2024 2nd rounder

That has to be close imo. I can’t see a team giving up 3 high end assets

Patience aside, if no team is willing to give that type of asset then the teams options are to move the bar or hold the asset. Trading Chychrun at 24 years old with 3 years left at 4.6m should yield a better return than 25 years old and 2 years left at 4.6m so the balls really in their court.

The top6 is set for awhile. I expect DeBrincat to resign, so it’s more likely that Giroux is the first to be replaced in that top6. Greig might replace him, or maybe it’s Joseph, or maybe an UFA, but it won’t be Formenton or Boucher. There’s three seasons to figure it out.

Chychrun moves the bar on this team. It doesn’t matter if it’s Greig going the other way, or Zub, a top3D of Chabot, Chychrun, Sanderson is playoff worthy.

Chychrun is more valuable than Pinto, but I don’t trade Pinto for Chychrun.

I would give the 2023 1st with either Zub or Greig for Chychrun. Yes it’s a lot, but the Sens win the trade even if they lose the value exchange, as long as Zaitsev’s contract goes as well. No Zaitsev’s contract is not bad enough to account for the entire value of the 1st. It’s actually only about $1MM over value, but Ottawa needs to dump it, and that’s why they’ll need to pay extra.

Don’t come at me with crap about Zaitsev being worth less than $3.5MM per, because I can respond equally well. It’s bias that fuels that opinion.

Just some thoughts. I try to avoid Capfriendly during the offseason, as it gets a bit ridiculous here with some “logic”. So if you respond, be patient for my response.
