How does this help Vancouver? Sh*t draft pick. Sh*t player with terrible cap hit. And an okay guy.

To take Monahan, even at 1.5m retained is a negative asset right now. And Pelletier and a second aren't nearly enough for Garland. You're about ADDING a first round pick and at least a low B high C level prospect, on top of what is already there, from moving this needle.

Monahan only has 1 year left at his cap hit, Pelletier is our best forward prospect and is most likely gonna be an NHL regular this year, on top of that a high pick, its not as bad as you think it is, with that said Flames would say no here.

1 year of practically 5m in dead cap... Pelletier may be your best prospect forward, doesn't mean he is a needle mover. He's a B level prospect sure. Just not "that great" If everything works out for Calgary(which freeing up dead cap essentially for "free" by upgrading your roster in Garland over Monahan, it's at best a 55~ ranged second rounder) That's not a high pick at all. The chances of that prospect being anything are almost as low as anyone who thinks this trade is "fair" or "too much for Calgary" iq is.

Monahan is a negative asset. Pelletier and a very late second aren't nearly anywhere near Garland. Let alone taking on 5m in cap for a f*cken 4th liner.

Pelletier put up 62 pts in 66 games in the AHL as a rookie while playing solid defence so he isnt a B tier prospect hes 100% an A level prospect so hes the big piece here if he isn't a needle mover you are vastly overrating Conor Garland, if Monahan does gain any semblance of his former skill back thats another asset that can be dealt, it really isn't as bad as you think it is.

Also off topic but its nice seeing another Senjougahara fan on this site lmao

My issues with you disappear with that last comment. Pelletier is god tier prospect now.

But I see what you are getting at, I just think Vancouver would want a roster spot that isn't mostly dead weight, in a trade involving their pieces. Granted Pelletier will be a roster player for a team in a year at the lastest, I just think the Canucks have better suitors for Garland if the rumor mill is that he's one of our expendables.
