Look at what Arizona got for Nemeth and then think about whether this trade is even close

So we trade and retain on a top 4 D to upgrade a 4th line winger? Makes no sense to me

I agree but it doesn't matter. Apparently other teams don't see it that way considering we haven't been able to dump him yet. This offseason has proven that teams aren't going to take bad contracts for nothing and for whatever reason Pettersson is seen as a bad contract so we might as well just keep him

Pettersson is seen as a bad contract by fans, there is no proof that GMs think that

Do people not realize how valuable cap space is right now ? It's not about the player, it's about the cap space and how to get that. Penguins have a bunch of young left d man , time to let them play and see what they got. Peterson moved creates space to operate for the year and allows the younger guys to play. I think his contact is the easiest and least painful one to move.

Who says the pens are trying to dump him? Who says other teams aren’t willing to take him? How long did it take for Bjorkstrand to go for a 3rd and 4th round pick? Just because the pens haven’t made a trade doesn’t mean teams aren’t interested?
Tbh I doubt the pens trade Pettersson. I think they are done trading defensemen. If anything I could possibly see them trading McGinn somewhere to sign a guy like Larsson more than paying to retain on Pettersson.
