Boston already had the most cap spent on the defense position, not sure why they’d spend more of their cap and assets on defense without a defenseman going back.

Because a good chunk of that won't actually be playing until November (Grzelcky) or December (McAvoy) and Boston would still like to win a cup with Marchand and *possibly* Bergeron if he comes back and Jakob Chychrun would help them now and in the long term
