I personally think Schmidt would be a good fit in Anaheim. But if you wanted to trade William Nylander in this market the team trading for him wants a first and a top prospect to do it smh.

At that price Winnipeg should definitely pass on Toews.

Gawanke and Berdin are probably going to get scooped when the Jets try and send them down. So I am assuming you mean Stanley for Toews is too much? I like Gawanke, but realistically he won't get a chance with the Jets.

Not sure schmidt waives, toews fits but probably have to shine up the offer a little to get it done, possibly a pick of some sort. If Schmidt doesn’t waive, there will be a team that would love Dillon. I like the toews idea, just wonder if toews would bring the same fire and leadership in a more limited role.

I would hope so. Although, since his bout with whatever he had a couple of years ago. He has not looked the same. I think he might enjoy a limited role and become more of a mentor.

It's too much youth to give up for a broken down player that will probably spend more time on IR than he does playing. He's not 25 anymore. The Jets just don't need him.

The Jets also don't have 5.25 mil of cap space to throw away.

I think he could be a interesting add, stack up 4 centers and he probably has a decent amount of knowledge and experience to pass on to the other 3. Probably could use some more offensive talent on the wings, and hopefully the kids come fast on the blueline. Could be a interesting squad yet.

Hahaha. Broken down player? Wow! You know nothing about hockey. No wonder you don't post anything, just criticize everyone else's posts.

I'd be surprised if any team paid a third-round draft pick to take on Nate Schmidt's massive cap hit for three more seasons, never mind the second. Right now only 8 teams have that kind of cap room; one of them is Dallas, who have to re-sign Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger (there goes THAT cap space), and a second is the Islanders, who have to re-sign Noah Dobson and Alex Romanov (there goes THAT cap space).

Lol. You're only knowledge appears to be "he's from Winnipeg, the Jets should get him."

When you take the time to educate yourself a little on hockey, you'll realize the value of various players at various ages. Right how you're a little ignorant on players and their values. As I said, Toews isn't 25 anymore.

You shouldn't get so defensive about making a bad proposal. Accept the input and use it to learn.

Schmidt has a pretty bad contract. It's not horrible by any means but it certainly has strong negative value for whatever team he's on. We live in a cap/contract world at the moment.

But it sure does adjust the values going both ways in a trade.

Maybe so. But there’s also a lot of bad GM’s out there. Look I have a lot of issues with Lou. But I’m sure there were fans out there shocked by the Leddy return as well.

Idk I think some GM asked Philly for a first for JVR and Chuck Fletcher hung up.

I think McCrimmon was so desperate to keep Smith that he dumped Pacioretty.

And I think Jarmo only called one GM about Bjorkstrand and he clearly didn’t know the value of the player he had.

Cause despite all of these awful moves. Connor Brown got a second. We don’t know Kadri is an islander. Is it likely? Maybe. But we don’t know ****. We shouldn’t pretend like we do. And we shouldn’t pretend the value of a cap dump is going to be a first cause some moron asked Chuck Fletcher for a 1st round pick for JVR. For ****s sake JVR may fetch a pick at the deadline if you retain 50%!!!

You are blowing a lot smoke about the league in general and all of that in ways that just don't matter here. One GM matters... Pat Verbeek. Nothing he's done to this point suggests he's willing to pay a 2nd AND a 3rd to take on a contract as bad as Schmidt's.

To the contrary he threw Lindholm, Manson and Rackell out the door because he didn't want to give them the AAV or term they wanted. He cut Milano and Steel loose because he didn't want them to go to arbitration. He's held onto his cap space firmly with both hands in a death grip. That's the track record of the only GM that matters in this one specific trade proposal.

I am literally just saying that he may be holding on for an offer that won’t come. That’s it.

Also how am I blowing smoke by pointing out NHL GM’s behave irrationally? It’s just a fact lol. Pierre Dorian is the guy who traded a 3rd for Travis Hamonic but also traded pennies on the dollar for DeBrincat lol

LOL, I'm going to start taking a shot every time you mention a GM that isn't Verbeek. I expect to be hammered here shortly.

This has nothing to do with him being from Winnipeg. Toews at 5.25 mil to serve as a mentor to Conners, Ehlers, Scheifele, Perfetti, Lowry is well worth it. He is not asked to go out anymore and score 60-70 pts. He would be brought in at a lesser role. It is not a bad idea. In fact it has a ton of upside. You go on everyone's thread and pretend that you have any knowledge. You have made 8800 posts on other peoples boards and 0 of your own posts. Please find me 5 times were you actually said something smart.
