For the record, I find the Blackhawks franchise disgusting for tanking and I hope they und up with no better than the #3oa pick next summer!

After years of PTSD watching Kane light up the Wild (especially in the playoffs)... I would have mixed feelings about this

Statistically unlikely. You are disgusted by the Hawks tanking but the league rewards teams to do this, and it's the best shot as being competitive down the road. Ottawa, Buffalo have been doing if for years and both their arrows are really pointing up because of it. Leafs as well years ago. Avs as well.

Sabres’ arrow is definitely pointing up, but they also haven’t made the playoffs since 2011. They ranked in 2014, and still haven’t been successful since then.

To be fair, I saw a lot of similar things regarding Savoie, Wright, and Lambert, saying they would have went 1 OA in 2021. None of them went 1OA in their draft, and almost certainly wouldn’t have beaten out Owen Power to be drafted first.

No team has tanked better than Edmonton and the year that they weren't going to get it is the year they won Connor in the Loto

Yes, but prior management/leadership issues being the main case. Nonetheless, tanking is not a new thing in the NHL is the point.

As I posted that and walked away I was thinking exactly that! Ottawa, Edmonton, Leafs, Buffalo, the list goes on and on of the teams that tanked as part of rebuilding....even the Hawks back to the early 2000s which is how they ended up with Toews, Kane, Seabs, etc.

It's VERY unfortunate that they changed the lottery rules. Those changes will 100% increase the desire to tank. I don't care if Yzerman complains that he was "stuck" with the #4 pick vs Laf,Byfield,Stutz. It's all how you develop the player. Lucas Raymond is a pretty good player in his own right. The #1-#3 OA picks don't pan out like stars nearly as much as people think. Again...it's all about development.

I can't wait for the Hawks to get last place and then the #14 and #13 teams in the lottery...would literally do nothing for the top 2 picks.
