I wouldn't say not contender, but you're right. The Canes are far better off this year with kadri/Kane than KK.

You can acquire Kane and roll with KK at 2C. I think we are underestimating what KK and will do for this team.

So....It's complicated. YES...with Kaner on the side of KK anything is possible. Kaner on a terrible team was (please don't exact quote me) 5th in the NHL on 5v5 primary assists. He's still a stud even on a team when everyone is trying to shut him down. BUT is Kadri better than KK...of course he is. For 1 year he is. If we're projecting a 1 year Kadri vs multi year KK different story.

Yeah that run him through his age 32-39 seasons. He’ll be a 4th liner by the end of that deal.

KK a 4.75 million dollar career fourth liner, third at best. At least Kadri gonna be a 2nd liner for a few years.
