I understand that Edmonton needs help on the back end, but why would they deal for an overrated 1-dimensional defenseman way past his prime? And with 1 year left on his contract you are giving up a 2017 1st rounder? Ouch. For the sake of the Oilers, I would not want them making this deal. If you threw in an extra piece with that 2017 1st rounder, you might get a solid and better D from Minnesota or Anaheim. Obviously, just my 2 cents.

I've tried with Minnesota for dumba but lots of there fans won't give up dumba for a first. So I figured well Detroit is on the urge of a possible rebuild so they might benefit from gaining a first round pick and a third round pick for green. Just remember he's only a replacement for sekera till he is healed. Plus he only has one year left on his contract with tons of money coming back to sign McDavid I personally thought it was a win win for both teams

I'd argue Green is pretty similar to Shattenkirk who got STL a 1st, conditional 2nd, and decent prospect (I'm considering that the other two players involved cancel each other out).

If you want us to eat cap on Green, it's at least a 1st & 2nd, or a conditional 1st/2nd + Nurse. Deal?

Oh man I dunno about adding nurse. That's a bit much I mean Mike green gods to free agency an there's no guarantee he resigns with us. Plus he's getting a bit older I'd probably do a first third round pick an a defence prospect but no way I add nurse

Holland has already pretty much said, That he wont deal Green unless we can either sign Shattenkirk or trade for one of either Barrie or Vatanen. Holland wants a younger version of Mike Green our D is already pretty atrocious so we can't afford to move Green without a similar style D man coming to Detroit.

Right, the condition is that Green signs. If he doesn't sign, it's a 2nd+Nurse. If he does sign, it's a 1st+Nurse.

Change the conditional pick to 2nd/3rd instead and add a 5th. Does this make it better for you? Then it's Nurse+2nd+5th if Green signs, or Nurse+3rd+5th if he doesn't.

I guess so. I hope holland doesn't think he's a cup contender next year an f*** everything up an give older guys dumb long expensive contracts like he seems to like doing haha. I like Detroit i just maybe since they had a bad year an green is getting older they might stack up on draft picks.

It might take more to do it, but take a look at Detroit's cap situation. If expansion draft goes the way everyone thinks (Sheahan), they will have about $12M after placing Franzen on the IR. They have six slots to fill including giving Tatar and AA a substantial raise. XO may even get more ($2M+) than he's worth due to usage and arbitration. There will be nearly nothing left for the other three players. Even worse, the next season they have to pay Mantha and Larkin. So, Green is gone in 18-19 regardless. Why not bite the bullet now? Problem is that Kenny Holland doesn't want to rebuild like you want him to. He wants to retool. So, he will probably do what he can to keep Green. I don't know how, but he'll try.

Yeah I thought it'd be decent for both sides Detroit gets cap space oilers get a serviceable d man to replace sekera but I guess a first and third isn't enough. Hell I'd take all of Green contract if it means taking him. Now a days in the NHL a million in cap space makes a difference

I'd trade Green for a first round pick. We could use that pick to update with a younger player or just draft best player available.

They pretty much said that between Tatar, Athanasiou and Ouellet will probably be around $7 million for the 3 about $4.5 million for Tatar $1.5 million for Athanasiou and maybe slightly over $1 million for Ouellet and Svechnikov, Bertuzzi, Nosek and Frk probably fill out the rest and all will be pretty cheap here.

Detroit should be in full rebuild mode, and if they aren't should be! I would think it wouldn't even take a 1st to get Green at this point! Edmonton likely will have more than enough cap room to accomodate, but as stated above, not sure they can't do better! Green if brought in, should be no more than a stop gap 5/6 with some PP potential! Good luck!

Those are low numbers for half of those players. Tats is at least another quarter million cause he will use Nyquist as a measuring stick. Maybe half a million due to inflation. AA will be Around $2.75M as he will use Tatar and Nyquist as measuring sticks on their deals. Ouellet will get at least Marchy's contract of $1.45M. Svech, Little Bert, Nosek, and Frk will only command $650-950k most likely. Also, remember that KH tends to overpay.
