Not sure why isles would have to give up a pick for a defenseman with a broken sternum. That more than makes up for the age gap imo.

Palmieri has a full NTC and won’t accept a trade btw.

Yeah I wouldn’t trade two firsts anyway. Palmieri had good analytics and terrible puck luck all year.

I agree which is why I wouldn’t make a move rn. Isles aren’t good enough to justify moving all this salary to add a veteran at a position they don’t need help with. Nelson would be overpaid as a third line center and moving him to wing is too risky. Kadri is very likely to regress this year.

id do pageau for girard just because the avs need a center more but given the age and skill gap ideally the islanders add.

It’s more about the fact it happened. I’ve never seen anything like that with an NHL defenseman. Makes me nervous tbh.

Yeah but imo the isles should just keep Pageau for four years and not sign Kadri for six. So that’s probably part of the reason there is a disconnect here. I don’t c any reason to add because imo this lineup is pretty much set unless they can add an elite winger.

Kane 50% retained beauviller Dufour holmstrom and 2023 1st. For retaining 50% of Kane contract and having to take a contract back costs holmstrom so basically the trade I'd Kane for Dufour and 2023 1st but the added retention and bad contract going back to the hawks holmstrom is added.

you're probably right here but it looks like lou might think the team has stalled and is bringing kadri in to get the team over the hump. kadri is a big game player and money in the playoffs. dont listen to disgruntled leafs fans

It’s not about the player it’s about the contract. Hard to feel like you will get a lot of a 32 year old on a multi year deal. If it’s like the Giroux deal fine. I wouldn’t do more than 3 and 21 tho.

I would move Pageau or Nelson to wing. I don’t c any reason to trade them when you won’t get fair value.

I’m not a huge fan of Girard and Lou is pretty invested in Romanov rn. Adding Girard to play 3rd pair isn’t a good idea.

That being said I legit made an ACGM where I made 0 trades. Then added a poll with three forward targets Kadri, Kane and Miller. And imo the correct answer is to do nothing rn and wait for the deadline anyway.

I’m not even gonna disagree. I’m just saying what Lou would do. Romanov is there to make Sorokin happy. It won’t make Sorokin happy if his friend is on the third pair lol.

This whole Pageau for Girard is a pipe dream for NYI fans. Pageau is a middle six 29yr old guy that has never scored more than 45pts. On no planet does that get you a 24yr old top 4 dman locked up long term. Avs Management would literally laugh at that offer.

And that would be a MASSIVE mistake. Doing moves like that is why GM’s get fired.

Trading Girard for Pageau is what a bad gm would do. Pageau is a 29 yr old 3rd liner.
