That deal does not help NYI at all and they balk at it. Cannot give first and second in what is recognized as an extremely strong draft and it makes their cap situation worse. You have to assume they signed Kadri so no room for Miller. VAN had their shot at moving Miller at the draft and they grossly botched the NYI deal. VAN needs to dial back Miller's perceived value. He is not an elite goal scorer. Very good responsible 200 foot player but in 10 year career only 20+ four times and one of those is the only 30+ year. They need to stop holding out assets you get with 4-5 five time 30+ guys, especially if they want to clear cap space.

Terrible deal for NYI. I don’t think you could get that draft capital without Mayfield in the deal.

If miller is willing to sign 7.5 x 5 then I would much prefer than Canucks simply keep him rather than sell him for that underwhelming package

In the past three years Miller has been over a ppg and would have hit 30 in 2019-2020. He has proven himself as an elite player

I think it's probably around fair if you take off a second. The extra second was for retention. The idea was Mayfield and a First is likely out bid by another team so I added another second but if you remove the other second I think it's fair

I think it's reasonable to assume a lot of Americans may not want to play in Canada

For Vancouver it makes a lot of sense. Considering you could get a lot for Mayfield at the deadline you may even end up with two firsts. Add on the 2nds to that and it’s a terrible deal for NY.

I think Mayfield and a first is fine and then maybe a third for retention?

Imo sending a useful veteran for Miller defeats the purpose for NY. You have to admit they have a very strong d core even if you have questions about Romanov and Salo. The truth is their right side is so solid they shouldn’t have a problem next year with those too.

Miller and his agent have both expressed desire to stay in Vancouver. And even if he did want to play in the States, why would he take a big discount to play for the islanders?

He’s never expressed interest in playing for NYI. If anything, he would probably only take a discount to play in Pittsburgh which is his home town team
