What's the motivation for Calgary there? They lock into 3 years of a bottom 6 guy and take on cap for this season when they can just walk away from Monahan at the end of this year. Neither of those guys move the needle in a trade I don't think.

Equally as bad for the Habs, at least Armia provides something useful to the Flames even if it is just a bottom 6 right handed forward. Montreal has no need for Monahan with Suzuki, Dach and Dvorak down the middle, that would mean we are paying Monahan 6+ mil to play 4C talk about ridiculous. We already have like 6 too many LHD prospects who are as good or better than Valimaki.

As for the Oilers trade we do not need any more wingers and we absolutely need RHD and RHD prospects. Montreal does not even consider that proposal.

So to summarize Habs don't need the following:

Centers / Wingers / LHD / Goaltending - Just a RHD away from the cup!

No to summarize:

This trade is stupid for the Habs who currently have to move a minimum of 2 wingers already and also have enough LHD and LHD prospects to supply 5 teams with LHD. The fact that you want us to pay Monahan 6+ mil to play on the 4th line is beyond absurd cause he isn't bumping any of Suzuki, Dach or Dvorak from the top 9.
