They were last by a long, long way last season. They'll have to up their physicality by 25% just to catch the 31st place team.

And the Oilers added Kane and are likely replacing Russell with Niemelainen. The Sabres aren't catching them any time soon.

I’ve now looked at the stats, my best guess is that Buffalo’s stats guys don’t like counting hits much. It’s been a trend for years regardless of players. Even a Buffalo vs Toronto game with a large number of altercations seem to end up on the low end of hits. Even our post game guys have commented on it before

Well I've listed three players that aren't even questionable lesser players than foegele.... would rather foegele at 2.75 than Okposo at 6... I'm never going to say Buffalo is a good destination but it's laughable to suggest isn't a place or room for him given that roster.... easily slide into middle six role instantly.

You listed 3 players, 2 that are in the press box and one thats a captain. You havent even come close to justifying a trade for him, let alone Buffalo magically putting him in the middle 6

Ya know what, I wouldn't hate somebody that finishes their checks. We have lybushkin and not much else. Fact is- the gm has said he isn't bringing in meh vets that will just block the kids, and so far he has 100% lived up to his word. Fact #2- our owner is sick of losing money on a losing hockey team (a good chunk is his fault, but that's another discussion), the Sabres are now above the floor, gfl getting the Sabres to take on an extra nickel right now. Somebody could point out that hitting is actually a bad thing, you don't hit guys when you are in control of the puck, but I'm open minded. Doesn't matter, there's no way foegele is coming here. None.

Buffalos primary goal this season is further development, winning is a secondary byproduct of that. Foegele may have value, but he does not have value to Buffalo specifically.

They need the kids (Cozens, Krebs, Mittelstadt, Quinn, and Peterka) getting ample ice time while surrounded by veteran leaders (Okposo, Tuch, Skinner, Girgensons, Hinostroza).

There are also only a handful of teams in the league willing to take cap dumps right now, and many more teams trying to actually dump contracts. Edmonton trying to dump a 3rd/4th line player has them with little to no leverage among that handful of teams who do not need him. That means whether you like it or not if he goes to one of those teams Edmonton is going to pay for them to take him. Maybe a team likes him enough they would pay for him and use him in the bottom 6, but it won't be a rebuilding team trying to develop it's players.

That's an interesting observation, thanks. You prompted me to look up the splits, and it looks like you are correct: the Sabres register 18.54 Hits/60 in away games but just 11.51 Hits/60 at home.

However, that 18.54 number is still only 30th in the league, so it is an area that they need to work on.

It's honestly a very strange thing to witness lol.

Your right a bottom dwelling team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in over a decade wouldn't have use for a player that player a regular role on a team that made final four... makes sense gotcha

You should be happy to keep him then
We don’t want him
Deal with it

Omg are Buffalo fans actually going to pretend they wanted that now? Hahaha ha cmon let's try to keep a straight honest story.

I didn’t say we “wanted” it

I said it was false of you to say we said we “wouldn’t trade Eichel”

That’s 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS

Wow….
Just stick to your own team

We don’t want Foegele, deal with it
