He's going to Montreal. He said he was wearing #10 "for this year", he's as good as gone. Nobody wants to play in Calgary

paying someone at 38 yrs old 10.5M is not a smart move. Calgary needed to get him down to a 6 yr deal.

One thing for sure if Weeger resigns in Calgary they absolutely robbed Florida, even if Tkachuk is 5 years younger than Huberdeau

Unfortunately, that's the going-rate for star players. They all want the 8yr term, NMC and it to be bonus-heaby. If the team balks, the player walks

Thats what I love about this signing. Everyone needs to stop saying players won't sign here...

It happens in every market. It comes in phases.

There was a notion nobody wanted to play in Columbus on this site. That's put to bed

This should put the Calgary narrative to bed. More-so when they finally get the arena deal done (if ever)

So is betting against the cap going up in the next 8 years but hey if you want to make that bet you can. I would be surpised if his cap hit is more than 10% of the cap by age 35

I’ll admit I wasn’t sure he would sign and definitely didn’t see it coming two weeks after the trade.

It’s a load of money for sure, but it shows that he wants to be “the guy” in a market where hockey is #1
