This makes no sense for either team. No matter what happens with this trade, 5 years down the line one of these GMs would be fired because they traded away the better player. Makes no sense for either team. If you wanna get lundell, you gotta make the panthers better with an established player, think toews or landeskog if you want lundell. Obviously the panthers add there but it’s hard to see them trading lundell 1 for 1 for anybody.

Alright let me know when Lundell gets close to leading a Cup team in TOI as a 21 year old

FLA needs to shed cap, and teams have had to pay a real premium to offload salary this year. This isn’t an unbalanced trade

Lundell or Reinhart for Girard could end up making sense in different ways if FLA wanted to capitalize on their depth at F to fix their problems on defense.

As exceptional as Lundell is, he isn't the caliber of player that gets you Byram.

I’m not saying it’s unbalanced, I’m saying it’s completely unrealistic. Let me put it like this. Cale makar was drafted 4th OA in 2017 and miro hieskanen was drafted 3rd overall that year. Now imagine one year after the draft, the Dallas GM calls up sakic and offers him miro and a B level prospect for makar. Say sakic accepted that trade, would he still have a job in colorado even though he is one of the best GMs in the league? HELL NO! He would have been fired after makar won the calder. If you can find an example from the past 20 years where two teams swapped top prospects over a year after the draft, please let me know. It is simply not something that is done in the NHL as it’s the kind of move that almost always results in a firing for the losing team. You may still get a damn good player like miro but because you don’t have the best player, you lose the trade and your job. The value is there for both sides and I never said it wasn’t. What I said was the trade “makes no sense for either team”. Byram could be all this and lundell could be all that but at the end of the day, there will be a winner and a loser to this trade and it will haunt the losing franchise for years so that is why both teams say no.

PLD for Laine

Laine was a 4 year vet at that point. That was 4 years after the fact and both prospects were unhappy with their current playing locations. I’m talking like swapping guys like a year or two after the draft. Lundell started his career in his D+2 year, D+3 year. While laine and PLD were swapped in their D+4 year, they were far from prospects and rookies. Context also helps too when they both were unhappy with their locations at the time and it made sense to swap them for scenery change. If byram and lundell both request trades, yeah go for it, but till then, just hold onto your prospects.

You know I meant a swap like this? That’s completely different, laine had over 300 games under his belt and PLD had over 200 himself. That is FARRRRRR from a prospect or rookie swap. Byram has under 50 games played and lundell has only 65. That is still way too early to get an actual gauge on their value to the franchise in the future. You are grasping at straws there buddy.

100%. Even Girard and a high pick wouldn’t be enough for Lundell

I don't get why the Avs would want Reinhart, a winger. Don't you need a center?

I asked when something similar happened and you gave an incorrect answer. Big difference little man. If you can’t see it then just drop it because you don’t understand the criteria of a similar trade.

No I can be wrong, ask some of the fans I have had discourse with. If you want to see me admitting being wrong check my prospect rankings and stuff like that. I can be wrong but what you have suggested is not a comparable to this trade. You don’t have to agree with me here but I have backed it up with stats and circumstances and you still choose to believe you are right. If you want to me to agree with you I will agree with you on disagreeing.
