DUBAS MAKES A SLEEPER TRADE TO ADD THE FINAL PIECE FOR LEAFS CUP WIN

Created by: TML_Tika
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 5, 2022
Published: Aug. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kyle Dubas once again proves his GM brilliance and superiority to the entire hockey world and all CapFriendly viewers when the Maple Leafs acquire powerforward Tanner Pearson from the Vancouver Canucks to play on the team's second dominate line with Tavares and Nylander.

The Leafs without a doubt would have the two best lines of any team presently in the entire National Hockey League after this hockey trade.

Pearson is the final piece for the Leafs to win a Stanley Cup in Toronto after being a key member of the Los Angles Kings when they last won the cup. This trade brings back a lot of memories for older Maple Leafs fans of another big Leafs trade when the team acquired Red Kelly from the Detroit Wings in the sixities which resulted in 4 Stanley Cup wins for the team.

The trade makes sense for the Canucks who are trying to free up cap space after this year as they acquire Kerfoot who is from Vancouver and only has 1 year left on his contract vs Pearson who has another year remaining after this year.

Pearson is recharged playing for the Leafs and becomes a dominate leftwinger once again playing for his boyhood idol team, moving close to home, playing with Tavares and Nylander on a dominate line and on a super team with a great chance of winning a Stanley Cup and bringing it home to Toronto.

Canucks accept. Don’t think the Leafs would though

The value is almost even for the Vancouver one, either add a late pick going to the leafs, or the Nucks retain 10% or something.
I imagine you'd probably get more for Holl than a 7th

Robertson is going to get murdered on the 4th line. He is an undersized scoring winger. Leave him with the Marlies and go get a league min depth piece.

Are you going to be rolling with a 20-man roster? That'll be tough

TOR has been doing it for a few years now, not much of a concern.

If FLA can't move Hornqvist's contract, they'll be doing the same thing.

i would rather keep pearson. Kerfoot is too soft to play against. It goes against what the new management is saying. We need GRIT and D. No more forwards needed.IMHO.

He finished strong on the Marlies last season and is going to play with the Leafs.

Maybe as an injury call up for Bunting or Pearson, but he will get killed in a shutdown role. I see him as the Kerfoot successor in most ACGMs.
