In what way is that sabres trade even remotely close? Two stud young players and an unprotected first in a good draft for a 29 year old two year rental?

Ya trades could use work but even assuming don't get a single roster player back and just sign ahl players still will finish well above Arizona and Buffalo so will need alot of luck in lottery.

Yeah... Kyle Connor is Elite but the jackets would be soooo dumb to do this even if it didnt make their cap situation even more impossible

Sabres finished 9th from the bottom last year, finishing March and April on over a 100 point pace. They cut out the JAGS and only added, how exactly is a team of AHLers supposed to beat them? Sabres will not be one of the two worst teams this year, I can say that with near certainty.

Edmonton declines. 35 year old Blake Wheeler isn't worth all that, even at $4.1M. Oh, and the Oilers don't have the cap space anyhow.
