I think you forgot to add a first round pick going to Detroit? No interest in Muzzin next season either.

If you are moving contracts to free up cap space then it is a cap dump.

DET overpaid for Chiarot and I don't think they need a Muzzin top 6 d-man for 5,6 M for two more years.

This would only help TOR and screw DET.

Detroit declines, gonna have to pay to move Muzzin.

Rangers paid ARI 2nd round pick + 3rd to get rid of Nemeth 2.5 M for two more years. So to move a 5.6 M cap dump you need to shell out a first and a 3rd at least.

I have a suggestion, move him to ARI for a 1st and a 3rd round pick. They accept all kind of junk. DET at least have something going for them.

5 teams can afford Muzzin without sending cap back
Dont see him waiving for ARI or CHI
That leaves ANA, BUF and DET

Gonna have to pay to move him without taking cap back and it wont be cheap to any of those 3 teams, especially with 2 being in-division for the Leafs

If I thought muzzling could stay healthy I'd consider it but he can't so nah. Bunting gets a ton on his next deal if he has another good season.

Idk if they’d need to pay to move Muzzin but they definitely will not get any sort of value for him and Detroit absolutely is NOT a fit.

Yzerman completely filling out Detroit's roster with UFAs was done so he didn't have to give up any assets in trades like this. So unless it's a player he has to have I wouldn't expect any more trades from Detroit this offseason.

I could see him taking advantage of a less than ideal roster decision from another team, not sure what that would look like or what player specifically but he did mention he is waiting for teams to determine how they’re going to handle their cap issues and indicated he would possibly swoop in and make a value deal.
