Mediocre return for Beauvillier considering jones played two games last year. Arizona won’t trade for bailey. They won’t want to risk winning games.

Had a torn pec so shouldnt be any long term ramifications for Jones, but I still understand the underwhelming return for Beau, Though I dont think ANA would offer much if anything more

imo Beau is a mighty interesting trade option but I don’t know what I would be happy spending on acquiring him

I dont see it being much, if we wanted a guy like him we would have kept Milano

And Verbeek didnt want Milano cause of the $ he would have made, and Beau is making more than Sonny would have gotten

I agree with that, still wondering how far off the two sides were on a deal

Please please stop putting Bellows and Wahlstrom on the same line. That's a nightmare. Bellows actually needs to be signed and traded. Time for him to go.

I agree Bellows should be traded but Bellows+Wahlstrom have tilted the ice in the isles favor when they are on the ice together. Not even close to a nightmare

I thought part of the reason he was jettisoned was that he wasn't listening/getting along with the coaching staff?

he said he was concerned that the arbitration rights held by Sonny Milano and Sam Steel would prove too costly given their mixed individual results during this past season and that’s why he declined to give them qualifying contract offers. Milano and Steel then became unrestricted free agents.

“I wasn’t prepared to go there,” Verbeek said. “It boiled down to role. What role would they play and did it make sense with the dollars?”

These were words straight from Verbeek, Coaching staff may play a role as well, but $ was 100% a factor as well

Thats the article I pulled the first two bits from

If Verbeek wanted Milano back it would have happened already. I'm in the camp that thinks the disconnect between Milano and Verbeek goes beyond just the money. I'm sure it starts with the money. I just don't think that's the whole story.

As to the original trade I'd honestly rather have Jones in the bottom six and the 2nd than a soft-ish middle six winger that makes a bunch of money. Jones is pretty unique among the Ducks forwards with his size and physicality. I just think there are better fits out there for what the team needs than Beauvillier.

I'm allowed to dream tears of joy

Yeah we got rid of two guys like Beau in Steel and Milano, Jones is the type of player Verbeek seems to covet, dont see him being moved in a trade like this, and especially adding a second to it

Great conversation.
Funny how the Isles fans think they'd be giving away Beau on the cheap here....and Duck fans think the exact opposite lol.

I guess I hit the nail on the head with this one! I'll tell Lou to fire up the fax machine!!

Best way to tell its a fair deal is to have both teams complain that they are giving away too much!
