Description
Just for fun and throwing ideas around. MIN needs a true C1 to win the West and Isles have a glut with Kadri and need some space. Send the MIN kids home as much as it pains me to send Brock off but bring back an elite high end prospect scoring W in return. No hateful comments please

If the isles got Dumba they would probably flip him so that’s not an issue. But Minnesota would be insane to trade Mathew Boldy. I wish the isles could do this. They can’t.

Minnesota needs to just wait out the dead cap years, and try to keep their owm players during that time.

Is Brock a pretty common name in Minnesota? Just dawned on me that the two Brock's that I know of in the NHL are from there.

I wouldn't call Nelson a 1C. Last year seems like an anomaly for a 30-year-old. He is a good top6 guy but those don't get you young guns like Boldy in a trade

Idk that he’s a 1C either but he’s a high end #2. He spent a lot of time as a 3C earlier in his career due to the isles center depth, but he’s very consistent.

Yeah, he is good for ~25 goals a year. Very respectable, but not worth the pieces in this trade

He’s not worth Boldy yeah. It’s a non starter.

I’m not sold on the idea he regresses because he will benefit from a big role on the Power Play with Barzal and Dobson.

His career average shooting percentage is 14,2% and last year he had 21,6%. That's not sustainable.

With his career average shooting%, he would've had 24 goals last season

The only player on the Islanders worth considering moving Boldy for is Barzal. And frankly I don't know if either team does that.

Yeah but he was getting high end opportunities last year on the power play. And he generated a lot of high end opportunities in his own right.

You need cap for a free agent and think you are sticking Brock on wild in this market? Talk about not being realistic or seeing if another team has cap. Besides you aren't getting boldy, Beckman pieces fir Brock Nelson, who would be cap dump so you can sign another free agent. Kieffer would be ahl piece.

I mean, he got 5 seconds more powerplay-time than in 20-21. Scored 4 more power play goals.

Sure his offensive zone start % jumped a lot, but still, most of his season was driven by a high shooting percentage that is bound to drop. If not completely to normal, at least to somewhere around 15-16%. So around 25-27 goals should be expected, and that's really good for a 31-year-old

Yeah but a lot of his power play goals came in the second half of the season. He got hurt around the same time as Pulock but was only out a couple weeks. He came back and Dobson was on fire. That’s why his numbers were so good.

I like this deal if Nelson is swapped to Barzal. Nelson's a fine top6 centre, line Ryan Hartman. But you wouldn't trade your best young player for Hartman, would you?
