Frankly, value-wise I'd be ok with this for CBJ.

I'd need Kerfoot to come with a (team-friendly) contract extension. Holl could be a decent short-term replacement for Peeke, particularly as we see how CC, and Jiricek develop. Topi and the 1st are good value adds. Frankly, we may need the *slightest* bit of retention to make the cap work for CBJ.

But yeah, Boone is C. Team is high on Peeke's potential as a Savard-like shut-down D. It wouldn't happen.

Frankly, I'm just blown away I have seen a Kerfoot to CBJ trade that wasn't immediately upsetting. Don't do it again.

This trade is good for both teams. Toronto gets a young right handed defensive defenseman to play in the top 4. They also get a versatile veteran center who can play in the bottom or top six who puts in goals. They also dump cap with Kerfoot and Holl. CBJ gets a first round selection which is always helpful. Kerfoot could be their replacement for Jenner in a way, and Holl can replace Peeke too. Plus a good prospect and a third.

On a side not, I was at the game Peeke scored his first nhl goal.

My apologies, I'll keep trades like this to myself next time.

In all seriousness, I know this won't happen because of where CBJ is as an organization, building their culture will be important and Boone will be pivotal for that, would love to see it though

I said it at the time and I still think Boone to Toronto at the deadline two years ago would've been a great move and a perfect fit. Return might've been more than Dubas was willing to part with compared to just a first for Foligno. Alas, the ship has sailed. Don't feel bad about this kind of AGM or the feedback us Jackets fans are giving. This is literally the point of this forum.

Heard.

And yeah, we just get too many "Kerfoot to CBJ" trades. Don't want other TML fans getting ideas tears of joy

I don't see how this trade is appealing in value at all. Niemella would come in behind Boqvist, Jiricek and Ceulemans on the depth chart. Kerfoot is completely redundant considering the Jackets wing depth. Holl is worse and more expensive than Peeke. Jenner is on a beautiful team friendly contract already, is only 1 year older than Kerfoot and is very clearly the teams best center currently. The 1st is likely going to be late and who cares about a 3rd? I hate this deal from every angle.

Yeah you're right, what team would want Kerfoot, Niemela, a first and a third round pick? All of it is valueless... CBJ are already cup contenders so they shouldn't make any moves to continue getting younger and adding picks. Not to mention, each of Holl and Kerfoot could easily be flipped at the deadline and with retention, probably bring back quite a haul.

Half of those items *are* valueless., Niemela is near valueless to the CBJ because they have at least 3 RD in the system that are better and are 18-21 years old and a late first is fine, but not nearly worth Jenner and Peeke.

Also, why in the hell would a team that is already among the 5 youngest teams in the league need to continue to get younger? There's no logic to that. And even then, this trade makes them older since Boone is younger than Holl and Peeke is younger than Kerfoot. Maybe do some research.

Frankly, I don't care what assets Holl and Kerfoot could return at the TDL. Losing the team's captain who just extended on a very team friendly contract isn't worth whatever meagre picks those two would return.

I don't know why I'm bothering to argue with you though. It's far too much to ask of a Leafs fan to actually understand the needs of other teams and their future prospects.

You said a top 25 prospect in the league's most coveted position is near valueless, I can defend my opinions as long as the person on the other side has a brain

Near valueless to the *****Blue Jackets*****. Why would they trade for another RD prospect when they have Boqvist, Jiricek and Ceulemans working their way up. Then they also have Peeke and Blankenburg who are 24. Even though he's good, he's not worth acquiring for the Blue Jackets. How about you make use of your own brain and look at what teams have before you start making proposals.

Yes, and they explained that the context matters. Near valueless to a team that already has three better prospects at that same position (if we are including Boqvist). Niemela is effectively valueless to the team you're trying to trade him to. A team like Vancouver, with no RD propects to speak of, would value him highly in comparison.
