If I was Chevy I’d say yes to this. I like newhook a lot and while winnipeg doesn’t need someone like Girard, he’s a good top 4 dman and can always be flipped if they feel that’s the best move. I’m not sure how much more winnipeg can expect in a return for Dubois.

I’d argue that this is could be considered and overpayment but with interdivisional tax I’ll call it even.

I support this proposal. Both players young and useful.

I know it fills the need for 2C but there's too much fog around dubois and him heading to montreal in a year. If he does we burn our best shot at a 2C and a top 4 dman for pretty much a rental, i don't think its worth it long run from colorados side.

Newhook is nice, but Girard doesn't give Winnipeg anything they need or want.

Don't be swayed by the other supposed "Jet" fan. Chevy wouldn't be interested at all this year. Next summer a deal around Newhook might work.

There are a few a jet fans here that will accept to almost every trade, I guess they just want to be agreeable. But with Dubois under contract for the year the Jets have no rational or logical reason to accept anything that doesn't fit their needs 100%.

If they were willing to lower their ask, a trade would likely have been made already.

Girard is better than every defensemen on the Jets, except maybe Morrisey. So what do you mean??

Nah, that's overrating him quite a bit,he's a small, offense only defenseman that would likely be 4th or 5th in the depth chart. The Jets have plenty of small, puck moving LD. They don't need to trade a young 1B center for another.

Like mentioned before, it’s always negative. I’m genuinely confused as to what else winnipeg would want in a Dubois deal. They get a young C prospect with plenty of potential and a top 4 dman. Again they don’t necessarily need girard, but he’s like you said better than every dman the jets have besides Morrissey lol.

Solid offer. Great young D-man with term and a very good prospect. That would be a really nice return for Winnipeg with the situation they are in

Not really. Last year wasn’t his best year, but hes 2 years removed from scoring at a 0.76ppg pace. Not one jets dman could match that right now. Girard is what Chevy wanted Schmidt to be.

Plus newhook is a very promising young C, so even if girard isn’t the jets best dman besides Morrissey, newhook alone makes the deal worth it.

Oh yeah, I like Newhook. He's a very good starting point. Girard gets a lot of points because he plays on the Avs. He won't be putting up those points on the Jets, just like Schmidt. More than likely, considering it was 2 years ago, the .76 was an outlier, not his norm. Last year seems much more inline with his normal production. Plus, he's offense only and an LD, so I don't see that holding much interest for Chevy.

It's all likely moot though. Now that Dubois has a contract it's extremely unlinkey he is moved before the TDL, unless the offer is too good to be true, which I think we both would agree, that this one isn't?

I like newhook enough to make this deal. But like you said he’s probably not being moved until the TDL at the earliest anyways. What I will say about this deal is that it’s the best PLD trade proposal I’ve seen from a non jets fan. It’s not the typical habs bs where they dump a player and throw in a meh prospect and a late 1st. at least they’ve given quality in newhook and a solid top 4 dman.

We could be looking at a rebuilding jets very fast this year depending on how the team comes out of the gates.

You are right about it being a quantity offer due to Newhook, which is very refreshing. I just get a little tired of people thinking that they can offer one decent piece and one unnecessary piece, that has value, but just not to the Jets and that it's good enough.

The Jets have no pressure to move Dubois now, but fans here have a hard time accepting that.

My original post here is probably a little harsh, but in my defense, it was the the same proposal from the same guy in 10 minutes. I mean at least change it up a bit.

Dubois is RFA after this year so worst case you have a tram controlled 2C you can flip in 2023.
