Description
These are all trade deadline deals if the team fails to make the playoffs. I am sure I will get a lot of comments about how this this or that team doesn't need this player. This is just guidelines for value I belive each player is worth come the deadline where everyone seems to overpay for help.

Knowing PLD wants MTL, Canes pass. You're not going to get Necas and a 1st for 2 years of PLD.

Edmonton declines. They aren't going to weaken their forward corps when they're aiming for a Cup run. It would be futures or not at all.

Honestly, this wouldn't even be 2 years as I put these are all trade deadline deals. Appreciate the feedback though.

I do believe that the whole Montreal thing is being blown out of proportion. The same thing was said about Trouba and Detroit because he said it would be nice to return to the Michigan area. MOney and chemistry changes players minds.

Rangers don't even consider that Wheeler trade.

They paid a whole lot more for Copp and Wheelers stats blow Copps out of the water.

I don't think Chevy would look at the Carolina trade. He'd probably want a center back as part of it.

Do we not think that Perfetti will be a solid 2C? The guy in his first year in the A was almost a PPG player.

Well maybe if he proves that this season, but right now he hasn't played any center.

Copp is way younger and they were hoping to sign him long term, which is not the case with Wheeler, so the comparison makes no sense. Plus with the signing if Trocheck long term they have 1C and 2C figured out and Laffy and Kakko for top two lines on RW, so zero need for an old Wheeler. Certainly not giving up a 22 year old with a ton of skill and a 1st round pick to rent him either.

Canes won’t be trading for PLD, since he would likely be a rental. And the Canes biggest piece they gave up for a rental was a 2nd round pick when they traded for Mark Recchi for the 2005-06 playoffs. So trading a first and Necas for a player who doesn’t seem to want to be here is comical. You should probably rename the title to deadline deals that won’t happen as that would be a lot more accurate a description.

That is a fair evaluation. So the Rangers are not a fit. Some team will pony up at the deadline.

Appreciate the feedback.

Is that response really warranted? Couldn't just say that you don't see this happening? How is someone with rfa for 1 more year a rental?

You can’t downplay the fact that he wants to play for the Habs. Even if the Canes did make this mistake of a trade, he would just do the same thing he did this year and get a one year deal so that he can just walk afterwards. He would be a rental regardless of expiry status if he doesn’t want to be here, which is what it is currently looking like. So what reason do the Canes have to make a move like this one for a rental, when they have never given up this much for a rental?

I guess you haven’t used a mirror lately. I have never said the Canes will never trade for rental, as has already been shown by players like Recchi and Domi. The Canes FO has historically not given up big pieces for rentals, so why would that change with PLD?
