Boston doesn't have the cap space for both Wheeler and Schmidt, And Grzelcyk is out until at least January.

All teams not named Winnipeg easily pass.

Lol. First Boston is cap strapped, not adding cap. 2nd, Wheeler and Schmidt are of no interest, 3rd you are not getting that kind of package for them, they are closer to being dumps than being valuable assets. Even if you took out Lysell Boston would decline in terms of value. You’d have to pay us to take them.

Grzelcyk is out until late November/debut of December, not at least January.

Yeah keep confusing him with Marchand and McAvoy, Who're out until late December ready by early January.

I actually made a mistake. Here are the actual projected return dates.

Grzelcyk: late October, beginning of November
McAvoy: late November, beginning of December
Marchand: late November, beginning of December

Not so bad then, if none of them have any setbacks, Marchand coming back from double hip surgery could be longer.

I think what is missing is Co-GM Bob, as he would help refine Doug's bold ideas. They make a great team.

Jets need to add to Dubois to get Suzuki out of Montreal

A week ago, I would have freaked out at this suggestion and I still don't like it. But after the hatchet job in The Athletic on contract values, I've begun to reconsider whether Suzuki is entirely indispensable. I've concluded that he's not. Would Dubois-for-Suzuki be the basis for a good trade? I think so. The rest is details. That said, I think Hughes and St.Louis are keen to see what Suzuki and Caufield can do together in a whole year under the new administration.

Quote from article: “ Personally, I’m excited to see how wrong this one is.

I’m reporting it how the model spits it out now, and as you’ve read — the best framing for each of these players is one born out of optimism. Nick Suzuki deserves the most optimism given his age and previous trajectory. His comps make that even rosier, pushing his positive value probability from 24 percent to 35 percent (inclusion on this list is based on the former number).“

He doesn’t necessarily believe his metrics on Suzuki imo

I read that entirely as a hedge and kind of gutless. If Suzuki has a "meh" year, Dom Luszczyszyn can say "I told you he's not worth $8.75M"; and, if Suzuki lights it up, the writer can say "yeah, but I did say it might be wrong". As I said, it's kind of gutless.

When will Jets fans get through their heads they are in a position of weakness with Dubois, you ain’t getting none of our good young players in exchange when we can get him for free in 2 years.

I think the degree of leverage the two teams have depends entirely on what degree of urgency the Habs' brass feels. If the Habs want to forego the misery of another bottom-5 finish, getting Dubois now would be a benefit. They would still likely miss the playoffs and draft a potentially very good player in the 10 to 15 range. If the goal is to tank another year and get a high lottery pick in 2023 (Bedard, Fantilli, etc) the math changes because there's a good chance they'd be drafting a centreman in that case. In that case, having Suzuki, Dubois and (dare to dream) Bedard is not tenable. In that case, A Suzuki-for-Dubois trade sooner than later starts to make sense.

The jets aren’t in a position of weakness. if Montreal doesn’t want to pony up and make a real offer for Dubois he’ll get traded to a contender at the deadline this year or in 23-24. The problem with that for Montreal is Dubois has only played in Columbus and now Winnipeg. You don’t think he could be easily convinced to sign long term in Tampa, Florida, NY, LA maybe even Dallas or Nashville? This would be bad news for Montreal because if you didn’t think Dubois was going to be 2c for the foreseeable future you would have drafted Shane Wright if Dubois doesn’t end up there you’re going to have a massive hole at 2c.
