Canucks don't take that offer.

Taking on Pageau is not something we'd want to do. He's about 2m over paid. On term. We have enough over paid players for a non contender team...
Also add that Kadri is definitely signing for more than that. The rumor is he's standing pat on 8m-9m a year... Soo yeah

Canucks easily say no, this is arguably as bad as Miller for Dobson

No reason for the Canucks to do that

Zero chance that Nazem Kadri takes less then $7,000,000 per. When basically all reports are that he's seeking between $8,000,000 per to $9,000,000 per.

I haven’t seen that Kadri rumor anywhere. And the idea Pageau is only worth half his contract value is hysterical. Isles don’t make either ECF without him. What a joke.

To Vancouver, he has no fit for that contract. You can't pay 5 million to a 3C

Not pure value wise, but nearly none of those pieces do anything for Vancouver, it's a whole ton of things they don't need

The real issue with that statement is that Pageau is the isles third line center, but he can play in a top six role. He did in Ottawa during their conference finals run. And he played big minutes for NY in the playoffs.

Tampa Bay paid Gourde over 5 million to center their checking line…

He wouldn't for Vancouver unless they run Pettersson at wing which means they'd probably have to make a Garland move and I imagine Vancouver would rather not do that

My bad, should have clarified. Vancouver cannot afford that unless Boudreau does a system where the second and third line split ice time

Isles made back to back ECF’s cause of center depth. It’s important tbh. Also he may play top six if Horvat and Miller are dealt lol.

Vancouver is not, and will not move Horvat. They aren't trading their Captain.

If they can’t resign him they might. I’m not saying they should or shouldn’t but who knows what he wants on his next contract.

The only reason they couldn't afford him would be if they're taking that package for Miller

It doesn’t make any sense cap wise agreed. But idk if Vancouver would want to give Horvat 7 Million plus per year.

I can't imagine Horvat gets more then 6.75 I can't think of any team that would give Horvat 7 plus (off the top of my head)

Well a reasonable price for a cheap 99 point player is a 2023 first round pick, and good/top prospect. That shouldn’t be unreachable. What fans have been offering is middling prospects, cap dumps, and a bunch of nobodies slapped together with a pick. This is exactly that. An expensive 3C, a middle six winger we have a lot of, not even a guaranteed first round pick

Most teams have their lineups set, you're better off trading him at the deadline now. Hopefully he keeps that 99 point pace up and stays healthy

Agree VAN should not take this at all it doesnt make sense. That being said pageau is not overpaid go take a look at his advanced stats hes a 2 way beast.
Also kadri may be holding out for 8-9m but hes not getting it. If anyone thought he was worth that type of $ he wouldve been signed a month ago.

Want to know why canucks would take this? There’s not a better offer for a 31 yr old Miller.

Canucks were a bottom tier team on PK. Who plays on the PK almost every time for isles? Pageau. He improves the Van up the middle instantly behind Horvat and Petterson. The cap hit would only be a minor issue this year if you’re talking about cap hit. As the cap Rises over the next few years his contract would be the norm at his position.

Beauvillier is a young winger that can 100% help the canucks with some added speed on the outside.

The pick and Holmstrom are future pieces. It’s not an unfair deal for the canucks. In fact it’s definitely an overpay from the isles. But I would think this gets it done.

Notice there’s still 3mil in cap space so anyone complaining Kadri is getting 8-9 can add the cap space accordingly to reach those numbers. Though given how long it’s taken for
Him to sign anywhere else, I doubt the market was there at that number.
